USC 2009 transfer thread

Guys...

This fall I took Calculus, but I dropped it with a W.

From what I have inferred, as long as you only have 1 or 2 W's, and you can keep a good GPA, you'll be fine.

I'm a Marshall major, and I'm now currently taking Business Calculus instead.

HERE'S TO A SGR!!!!

i applied as undecided, so will that will have a negative or positive effect on my chances of admission? i would be transferring in as a sophomore.

ssl i'm an architecture major

^^^ it will not have a negative effect to apply undecided as a sophomore, only if you're a junior then it would.

archieg - I too am a Marshall hopeful but will be applying Fall 10' (will be finishing all my prereqs in my 1st year at cc). One of Marshall's prereq is Business Calculus that is transferrable. If your previous calculus course you recieved a W in was not transferrable to USC and was not an equivalent to Business Calculus, then don't worry about it.

I've had two of my friends transfer from my community college to USC Marshall last year for sophomore standing and both of them didn't finish the business calculus requirement.

JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO UCSD AND UCSB .... come on usc.!!!!!!

Prepare to wait another 2+ months.

2+ MONTHS?! wow. that bites.

Yep. Decisions for some will come a bit earlier, but for the most part decisions start to trickle in around late May and into June.

as a hopeful soph transfer, im expecting June... the earliest :/

how much longer does it take for the admission committee to evaluate spring grades?

If I remember correctly from my friends SGR, it takes around 3-4 weeks. They both got accepted in July as sophomores.

oh wow..so those who get SGR's usually get in? or it doesn't make a difference?

It depends on when you get your semester grades. Like Makebank24, I had a friend that got sent in his grades May 15th-ish and got an acceptance packet in early early June... So I'm thinking 3-4 weeks as well.

Marco911, getting a SGR either means: they need another semster's worth of good grades to evaluate you as an applicant; they want to see what grade you get on a pre-req that you are fulfilling that semester; or you are applying as a sophomore and they need to see as much as they can of you

It doesn't mean you usually get in

shwayzeee - is right. Just try your hardest right now and continue your good work.

on a lighter subject, who's all on Spring Break and what are your plans?

I'm hittin up lake havasuuuuuu this week... can't waaait!!

I submitted my spring grades last year the second week of june and did not get my rejection until July 20-something. Long wait...

Can't wait for some spring break and I'm headed to Milan.

i wish it was spring break already for me but it is only the 4 week of the semester :/

and if you guys didn't know USC is playing Boston College in Minneapolis this Friday at 420 PST

lets cheer them on! haha
(i'll keep you guys updated through the tournament lol)

Makebank... The calculus class I took WAS transferrable to USC, AND I am taking Business Calc as a substitute! lol.

But everybody tells me I'll be alright, so I'm not worried at all...
