where did you find that LORS are due march 1st?

Yeah. I do not know where @nainasethi13 found that date. I saw the Annenberg site stated:
However, there is no mention of a date. The transfer application deadline for scholarship and regular consideration is February 1, 2011. You’re LORs, transcripts, etc should all be postmarked by this date.

Read whats written for Annenberg. It says “the letter must be sent directly to USC Admission no later than March 1”. You guys can call USC if you are still unsure :). I just emailed them to recheck.

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/AdditionalCourseRecommendation09.pdf

I stand corrected. I guess that only applies to Anneberg applicants? Usually the rule is LORs, transcripts, etc must be postmarked by the due date of the application. For anyone not applying to Anneberg, I would just email or call to confirm.

@laxlove - Yeah I have good HS Ec’s
And I am in a few clubs this quarter at Irvine so hopefully I’ll be good
we just list them where the HS seniors list their EC’s, right?

nainasethi13- is your GPA a 3.0? If so, then yeah make sure you tell USC :)

No, it is a 3.8. I have a B+ in anthropology. Only 8 students can get an A in his class, and he is using the same tests used at UCB, so the man is preparing us for university.

It also says on the Annenberg site that LORs SHOULD be sent 2-3 weeks after the transfer application due. So, I guess they should have them around February 21st. I talked to a rep about this, and that person said March 1st too. Anyway, find out as soon as possible.

naina - Oh, sorry for the confusion, I thought you said your school only calculates A’s B’s and C’s so I thought since you said you got all B+'s and your school doesn’t consider the +'s and -'s then all B’s would be a 3.0? Haha yeah I’m a bit confused now.

That’s good you’re getting prepared for university level. My first quarter at UCI was challenging I must say, but I’m pretty sure CC’s (some CC’s at least) prepare students.

@everyone
So I know the UC’s give community college students priority over other UC students, but since USC is private, can they accept a UC student over a CC? Just asking

Hey sorry to intrude on your guys convo. But i really want to transfer to USC. I mean I really really really want to. I’m currently a freshman at U of Oregon. In this past term, my first term, I got a 3.5. I’m really dedicated to work really hard the next two terms. My goal is to get a 3.7 or higher the next terms. But I just wanted to know around what should I shoot for to give myself the best chance. BTW I’m a journalism major. I plan on finishing all my pre-journalism classes by the spring term. If there is anything ya’ll could suggest it would be very helpful. I just really really want to go to USC.
Thanks

Hey we have until Jan 17 or 27 or something like that to fill out the CSS Profile so does that mean we can send it separate from the rest of the app? I know Fafsa we have til Feb 2nd.

Pre-Journalism classes wont count towards your major. They recommend you to finish GEs and pre-requs by spring. So, complete the general ed requirement, 1 foreign language class requirement, lower level english requirement, and the math requirement.

Just finished my stats final… blerg! My professor doesn’t post grades online/has weird stipulations for the exams and extra credit so I don’t really know where I stand in this class right now. XD Emailed him about it.

Going to ask my astronomy professor for a rec in 1.5 hours… meep. I’m anxious. I had no problem getting recs from my teachers in high school but I feel like professors are a lot more busy and likely to say no.
I did really well in his class though and put forth a lot of effort, and I could tell he appreciated it because most of the other people were lazy bums. :P

I hate having to get three recs for SCA… but it’s worth it, so I’ll suck it up Also, I’m thinking I’ll email them about that LOR deadline… because if it really is March 1st, I can ask some of my professors next semester for recs. Right now my only english-related class is speech (asking that professor too), but next semester I’m taking a composition class and that professor can talk about my writing ability. :o

Is there a cover page or something we’re supposed to attach to our high school transcripts? I have to drop off a request at my HS and then they’ll mail it out, so I can’t fax it.

@purplenurple

The documents for high school transcripts are under forms to download in the application home. You give the documents that comes with a cover sheet to your high school registrar and they will mail or fax everything.

Hey guys, quick question is this form supposed to be attached with the transcript so do you ask the registrar of the college to attach this form or what? Also when is this form due?

Yes, jeezha i think the form does need to be attached with the transcript in a envelope…I could be wrong…?

@everyone

after i graduated high school, I got 2 official transcripts that are sealed in a envelope that includes the date I graduated… so I don’t need to go back to my high school and get another one right? I just need to put one of the official transcripts that is sealed in the envelope and that form in another envelope and send it off to USC?

I should clarify. I applied last year as well, and all of my submitted docs from last year are still listed under the document checklist for this year. I’m assuming this is why there’s no form available for HS transcript on the Document Library Tab.

Any other re-applicants know if we have to submit the same docs again? Obviously I’ll have to resubmit my college transcript I’ll probably give them a call a few days from now to verify, but if anyone here has already done that, let me know

@callofduty dont you mean turn in the transcript forms and cover all in one envelope? or am I reading it wrong?

jaajaa-

Okay let me explain it one more time haha. I know I’m confusing sometimes! Okay so I have an envelope that is sealed and says “official transcript” and obviously my transcript is in there with the date i graduated. So there is a form that we need to send with our official HS transcripts… so can I just fill out the form myself? I mean I don’t need my registrar’s signature… on the form it just says to write our name and our HS address. So then I can put the small envelope (the official transcript) AND the form in a bigger envelope and send it off to USC?

Is that okay?

Yeah, my counselor told me to get a few official HS transcripts from our registrar last May, so I got a few just in case.

CallofDuty84, the sealed transcripts you have on hand are fine (very good idea to have some on hand, btw). Your plan to fill out the form yourself and put it in the envelope with the (still sealed) transcript is also fine - the form itself is optional, so no registrar signature is needed. You can also just write on the outside of the transcript envelope:

CallofDuty84
USC ID# 1234567890
High School Transcript

put it in the larger envelope addressed to USC, and omit the form.

Good luck!

When I sent in my transcripts I wrapped the forms around each transcript envelope and stuffed them both into a manila. They took it no problem.
