It might be a little too early for the backdoor method/statuses…

@sydneyral he hasn’t responded but I will post it as soon as he does. How long did it take you to fill out the CSS?

Also, I went on the clas website and just to double-check, do they have anything supplemental?

Ok so this is what he said:
“You should submit your application with your fall transcript by February 1st.
You can always send updates to your file, like new transcripts. This is common
practice.”

Soooo Im guessing just send our fall transcripts with the app then once our winter transcripts are out, we can send them as soon as possible right?

@jaajaa20

Just do as he stated. Send in the application and fall transcript by the deadline. After your winter grades have been made available, send the updated transcript.

Excellent. I will send an updated transcript after winter, and will have 30 units and that will keep them away from my HS grades of fail.

@Jaajaa: I managed to get my father to sit down with me and fill it out. Huge fight he put up because he seems to think USC is out to steal our money. Took us about a half hour…but I double check EVERYTHING.

Random question: Does anyone know if USC and other colleges do background checks on the internet. Just curious. My father seems to think they do.

What is the backdoor method?

Yeah thats what im going to do.
@sydneyral Ok so it shouldnt be take that long

Can anyone please respond to my last question about the supplemental for CLAS?

Hey everyone,

I transferred to USC last year from a CCC. I chose USC over waiting for Stanford’s waitlist decision and I could not be happier with my decision. Trojan life is absolutely incredible. (surpassing UCLA and tying Berkeley in Forbes, Washington Monthly and USNWR definitely helps around here lol)

In any case, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I wish everyone the best of luck :)

All the Best,
thelongshot

I don’t think so. There are questions on the application that ask about your background such as Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor, felony, or other crime? or Have you ever been arrested on a felony charge?. This is similar to the question of whether schools check your Facebook or Twitter. There are too many applicants for the admissions office to go through each individual. Might there be random checks? Possibly, but I doubt they check the majority.

A lot of the process requires one to be honest. So, if you check you never received a misdemeanor but in fact you did, odds are they’ll find out eventually. Whether that translates to having your offer rescinded or degree revoked, it will happen once they find out.

There is no supplemental for CLAS majors. This information can be found in the Transferring to USC brochure pp. 14-16.

It is too early for this. It’s a method of finding out if you have been accepted before the official admission decision arrives.

See, I was pretty sure they didn’t but my dad was soooo sure they did. He seems to think because I have posted some nasty comments on facebook that I am doomed and won’t be offered admission. I’ve never posted pictures of myself doing anything illegal, and the admissions office probably can tell by my application that I am not an angel. I’m not afraid, just curious.

OH…and if I am going to send in an updated transcript should I send in an updated activities list? Since my application I’ve gotten a job, had a paper I’ve written published to the school library and will be an English tutor in Spring. I think all are pretty nice things to add to my activities list…so the question is should I? And how would I?

@sydneyral

Just make your Facebook profile private. Someone posted USC didn’t take extra curricular activities into account. It seems odd but I guess they attended an information session where an admissions director stated they didn’t want someone to be at a disadvantage. You already sent in your application?

Hey I was a little confused when filling out the transfer application.

I’m a sophomore transfer, and I couldn’t find a place to put in all of the courses that I have taken since I’ve started college.
On the application, it won’t let me open up the section titled “Courses and Grades”. But instead in the “Activity Summary” section, it states this: “Transfers: List your courses in progress, indicating fall, winter or spring courses separately. Include unit values.”

So I was a little confused as to where I should enter my courses? Do I add courses only in progress, or courses I have completed already as well? So if anyone could help, I’d appreciate it, Thanks!

@MitchAPalooza: I went to the transfer meeting and was told extracericculars don’t count either…I just want them to know that I am still active even though my application has been sent. I feel that it shows them how much I want to go to USC.

And my deadline was Dec 1st. Screenwriting major.

@RamboRambo

Yeah. That’s weird. I cannot access the “Courses and Grades” section either. I would email USC to see what they say. If not, I would do what you stated. Just list the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring courses under the activity summer section.

EDIT: @sydneyral Oh, alright. Well you could always send it in with your updated transcript. I really see no problem in doing that.

I don’t think you fill out the “courses and grades” I know I didn’t and my application is complete. I’m pretty sure the transcript covers that section…

@MitchAPalooza:
Just wondering and Idk if you’re applying to USC but if you are, then how you are filling your courses and grades in the app?

@sydneyral:
You’re application was complete without that section so I’m just wondering where you put the courses that you previously took as well.
And would work experience be counted as an extra curricular? Just curious.

Thanks!

@Rambo
Yes. Anything outside of the school curriculum is considered an extra curricular.
I’m actually not applying this year. I am waiting until next year. I feel as a Junior applicant, I will have created the best possible chance at admission. However, if I was applying this year, I would do exactly as it states under the Activity Summary section. Just list the courses with the unit value. For example,

Fall:
English 101 3 credits

Winter:
Biology 101 4 credits

Spring:
Accounting 101 3 credits

That is the method I would use. Like I said, if you’re still unsure, you could always email or call. I agree with @sydneyral. The transcripts will do.

@RamboRambo: I did not list courses I previously took. My college transcript took care of that. I listed classes in progress just the way Mitch listed them (though one of the classes I listed incorrectly, as it is the same class that goes by two different names. It is not a gen ed and simply transfers, so I’m sure I am okay for listing the other name of the class)

@MitchAPalooza & sydneyral:

Okay so I confirmed with the school and they told me that the “Courses and Grades” Section doesn’t apply to transfers.

Hello future trojans!

IM SO ANXIOUS D: ahhh. Is everyone finish with their essays?
