@chapman
Im in my freshman year. Well ok I have most of the GEDs done categories 2,3, and diversity and will be finished with the rest of the GEDs by the end of spring. I have 15 transferable credits and 17 by the end of spring. So thats a total of 32 transferable credits including the GEDs and i also make the limit of Annenberg which requires no more than 36 transferable units. So im in good shape in terms of credits. In other words, Imma be done with all the GEDs in my freshman year and not one class im taking isnt transferable. Theyre all USC transferable. So what Im saying is ive been taking all the right classes but not the gpa to match it up with. My question is am I in a better situation than someone who has a better gpa but only has some usc transferable courses and not all the GEDs completed to transfer when I will have them done by spring? What matters more, GPA or all the right courses completed? Ok make that two questions.

Ill clear it up if you still dont get it

@lelouch-hmmm well Im not sure how theyll look at your gpa dropping. If there was a good reason behind it maybe you can point that out in your app otherwise hopefully theyll consider your progress over that small drop. Just work on the rest of your app and make that essay stand out.

it seems as if everyone is mailing their transcripts. i’m thinking about faxing them in myself to get them to USC quicker. What do you all think?

Hey btw, are you suppose to receive a confirmation from usc that they got both of your hs and college transcripts? Cause now im freaking out since i sent them early but i havent gotten anything from them that they have received them…

Hey people! I’m a transfer student trying to get into Annenberg as a PR major. I’m currently working on my application and trying to finish it by tomorrow. Anyone have any advice for smoothly finishing the application? Any specific advice for Annenberg? This app is really stressing me out and I feel like nothing I write is good!

Also, I’ve sent in all of my college transcripts and letter of rec…but do I need to send in my high school transcripts too?

If anyone has any advice at all, I’d appreciate it!

@erinmjenkins if youre having trouble with what you write down, have someone read over it including your essay (super important!). Are you aware of all Annenberg’s requirements: Statement of Intent and letter of rec (none from hs) and no more than 36 transferable units?

Yes you need to send in your hs transcripts as well.

jaajaa20 - i think what matters is that you have a decent gpa but also have taken most of your GED’s since your only a fresh… most Freshman will not have completed must else of there major quite yet.

erinmjenkins12 - I just applied to Annenberg as well, I think the key to these essays and questions on the application is to be well written but concise. USC says approx 500-700 words on essay but if you click under essay instructions they aren’t overly concerned with length so if you have a well written essay you will be fine. The short answers are meant to be concise too, you just have to remember that they are reading through thousands of applications and essays and the well written concise ones are the better ones rather than ones that blab on forever.

I have a question to anyone… if I am going down to LA who should I meet with at USC if I have a chance… I read they don’t do transfer interviews

I checked with Annenberg and they said that I would only need to submit ONE letter of rec. Should there be two? One for regular admission and one pertaining to Annenberg?

@erinmjenkins12 people only need to send letter of recs if their major requires them to do so. I am also applying to Annenberg and only one letter of rec is required.

@erinmjenkins yah so you only need one since USC doesnt require letters of rec from transfers. @chapman hokay that makes sense but Imma still try no matter what.

Has anybody received a comfirmation email or something from USC saying theyve received all your transcripts?

I need help! On the application it says that there is a form that needs to be sent in with college transcripts, and also says that high school transcripts need to be sent in for transfer students. I have over 60 units right now, so do I still have to send my high school record? Is it necessary to send in the form with my transcripts or can I just have my school send them in?

Dang, I didn’t include a cover sheet when I requested my college transcript (but did with high school transcript)…is that going to be a problem?

I am confused over the same thing yall!. I will ask the admissions office about it today as I am turning in my hs transcript in person, without the form.

Everyone take a look at USC’s website.

Well, when I submitted my stuff the big admissions rush wasn’t going on yet (remember, my deadline was two months ago!) and it took them about a week to log the transcripts.

I remember calling a day before my deadline to ask if my letters of recommendation made it on time (there was obviously more traffic on Dec 1) and was told that they did indeed make it. Within the next hour, my letters were logged.

It doesn’t hurt to call and ask if you’re worried.

I’m applying to the Thornton School of Music for Music Industry.
I’ve submitted everything either electronically or regular mail, I think it’s just a waiting game now. I hate this part!

Question: Do you need at least 30 credits to transfer? I’m not sure if I have that many TRANSFERRABLE units. I have about 70 units, but I was preparing to go to Cal State Northridge, not USC. So, can I still be admitted without 30 transferrable credits??

Quick question. I am getting a letter of recommendation from a teacher. I am pretty sure we put the address as the admissions office address…but how do they know which letter belongs to which student. I am applying to the school of Policy, planning, and development, and can not find any letter service. Does anyone know how they know which letter is for which student?? What if two people have the same name…how do they know which student it was meant for?
