Transfers hear back from May to June. Last year when I applied almost everyone who got letters in mid-late may was accepted. And a lot of people who got letters the first and second week of June were denied. I got a denial letter in the first week of June. It seemed as if almost everyone who got a letter in May got accepted.

I’m plretty sure you need to get your HS (& anyother ed institutions) to send the transcript, not YOU sending it. That’s the procedure pretty much everywhere.

My D did get accepted but as a Jan/Spring admit. She got her acceptance in mid to late July & hadn’t heard ANYTHING from USC before then. She had only completed one semester of CC when she applied. By the time she was accepted, she had completed a 2nd & before she started, she had completed a 3rd semester of CC.

Hi everyone,

I am at a Community College and will be applying for USC this coming fall.

I have a question that I desperately need answered though.

It says on the requirements for marshall that you need to complete Writing 130/140

Are these two different courses? In the articulation agreement, I have an equivalent for Writing 130, but it doesn’t even list 140 as a possible course.

I will try to post a screen shot of the articulation so you can see what I’m talking about.

Thank you for your help and good luck to everyone who applied for 2011!!

There’s the link to the screenshot. As you can see for the writing, it doesn’t list 140 at all

I think it’s one or the other actually. Can someone clarify? Thanks!

@ chapmanpanther3 I chose the what matters to me and why prompt and wrote about how the freedom of choice is so important to me after visiting another country that has many government restricions

@JDSFTW you just need to the equivalent for writing 130 to transfer to USC. At a community college, that should be the second semester of an english/writing class. If you check your school’s articulation agreement with USC, it will tell you which English class at your ccc is equivalent to writing 130

@sportslover

ok thanks I thought that could be it but better safe than sorry.

Good Luck!

@ HImom I sent in the official HS transcript myself with the cover sheet. As long as you have the official one you can mail it in yourself. And yes it’s been processed

There are quite a few places that will ONLY accept transcripts sent directly from the ed institutions. They are pretty clear and strict about this as it reduces the possibility of people altering transcript grades, etc. For my D, she got all her transcripts sent directly from the schools to USC.

Also, would suggest people who want to transfer contact THEIR USC admissions counselor to get clarity on requirements and what will likely transfer (or not) for credit to avoid nasty surprises. D found it very helpful, as it minimized the courses she took which did not transfer to USC for credit.

You may wish to double-check with the USC advisor that your sending the transcript instead of the school sending the transcript was OK–it would be sad if that is a reason for your app not to be given full consideration.

Hey guys,

I am applying to CLAS - With that being said, I know you don’t need a cover sheet. You need Form 7, HS Transcript, and College Transcript. YOU ONLY need cover sheets if you are faxing your transcripts!

Also, I want to list my Subject tests scores, but its only giving me 3 spots meaning I can only put 3 subjects and my scores down, can someone check to see if also have 3 spots open under subjects tests?

Thanks guys

I forgot to spend my form 7 with my high school transcript, can I just send it seperately or something

holy crap, i realize that when i pasted my essay one of my paragraphs werent indented! SHOULD i be worried?! CRAP.

No pikachu don’t worry about it

Marshall question:

It says we need business calculus as a pre-req to be competitive. Does this mean that if we DON’T have this completed, they won’t consider it AT ALL for transfer? Or does it just give you a slightly lower chance?

I have all of the other pre-reqs completed, just not the math part… :/

I’ve applied to the int. relations global bus. as second priority, but am wondering if they will just completely scrap me from the marshall consideration???

hey guys if I am taking my English equivalent next quarter I should be fine right? As long as I put down that that is my intended course to be taken before going to USC…

chapmanpanther: yes, you are fine!

It probably depends on how many credits you have by the end of spring. Personally, I think if you have around 30 or more and they see some potential in you, they’ll accept you and tell you to take it in the summer. I’m taking it right now and it’s pretty easy so taking it in the summer won’t be too hard. However, I think people who have all the prereqs done have a substantially better chance then those who have zero to none. What have you finished that relates to your major?

hey I have like 62 credits completed and transferring in as a junior. hey also what do you guys think of class withdrawls? Would admission care if you had to drop a class and take a W because of medical reasons? Would I just send them a letter or email telling them the situation?

@holkey:

Oh ok good! I’ve already finished both english (101 and 202), accounting (financial and managerial), and econ classes. I’ve also taken intro to business. As of the end of Fall 10, I have 30 or 32 transferable units. Taking 11 more right now (spring 11).

The only thing I haven’t got around to is the business calc, because it was tough to fit it in with my work schedule.

My counselor told me I could take it once I’m transferred at USC…but I wasn’t sure if it would give me a way lower chance of getting in just because I haven’t completed it.

Thank you for your response btw :)
