from norcal, born in the philippines

Bump. Thread can’t fall to the second page. Unspoken rule.

Last year virtebri found out about their decisions first for transfers, was that in late march?

Hey guys I didn’t apply yet; I’m applying next year for fall 2012.I’m on track to finishing a year of orgo and physics by spring before I transfer. For UCLA they want me to take orgo and physics but I think those are upper level classes and won’t transfer. Will I be at a disadvantage or advantage of any kind?

Hey, guys. I’m freaking out here. I called 2 weeks ago because the Document Management System says that USC doesn’t have my college transcripts, and Admissions told me they have my transcripts. D: However, until now, it hasn’t changed, and my status remains to ask for “more information”. I’M FREAKING OUT. It’s been 3 weeks since the application deadline.

@student007 SAME HERRE! omg its been 4 weeks for me!

Just took the your at USC. I’ve been to the university several times with friends however never been formally introduced to the school itself. What a great experience! I am even more motivated to hopefully get accepted and be a Trojan!!! I highly recommend the tour for anyone nearby the school (I was able to get work off and made the drive up from San Diego
)

I’m visiting on my spring break starting this Friday to next Sunday. It’ll be my first time in Cali since I moved from SoCal back to MA when I was five haha.

Does USC take into account the school when transferring? I don’t mean to offend anyone and it might be different on the west coast, but classes (at least in MA) are a lot different at a major university than a community college. Some of my friends take courses at CC here, and they are kind of pathetic compared to my classes. Like I have a 3.5 where I am now, but it would be a lot higher if I was at a community college here. Maybe its different in CA compared to here…

@deltron
Im sure USC does take into account whether you attend a University or a CC, however about 59% of USC 2954 admitted transfer students were from a California community college

hey guys, i transferred in last year into viterbi and know how stressful the process can be. i ve had the chance to get to know the admissions people and learned the process to a certain extent. I will be on for about an hour if any of you have ?'s

How important do you think it is to complete the writing requirement before the spring semester, in regards to how likely a sgr comes versus an acceptance/rejection in may? I am hoping that because I have this completed I have some chance of being accepted despite having 18 units before spring. I am an undeclared CLAS applicant.

the writing 140 req? very important, if this isn’t completed your counselor has to request a waiver for it and at the clas these are rare. if you listed it as in progress in your app then you should be ok, but ultimately if your under 30 units by the end of the spring then it will largely depend on your hs transcripts

@roffle in re-reading your question it sounds like by the end of the spring you will be at 30 units… did you make sure to list all your in progress work? the sgr’s are a result of a track record that isnt solid and as a result of USC attempting to give themselves some wiggle room with admits and the way the economy and fa has been… sgr’s are good and should not be feared

I will have 32 units at the end of spring. I am just hoping that because I have sent USC my winter transcript with the english 140 requirement I might be accepted in may without a SGR :)

edit: thank you for answering my question!
