RM1212- I’m in the exact same place. I’m confused! I wasn’t expecting a scholarship at all but I’m curious as to why I didn’t receive an email telling me I’m not getting one.

Is it just that I live on the east coast and news from usc will travel slowly?

I also live on the East Coast so it’s possible they realize mail will not come until Monday and will not update anything until then.

I hope the “no scholarship” emails aren’t behaving as erratically as the snail mail ones from past years did. My son NEVER received his “no scholarship” letter (unlike all his friends). He was admitted in mid-March and received a departmental scholarship from Thornton. Don’t be discouraged!

^ I completely agree with you. I don’t understand how they can mess up emails, unless they are timing them to go along with their paper trail. Even so, it would be better if they sent a mass email to everyone at the same time— maybe a week after first packages arrived so everyone would know where they stood. No one should be left confused.

Hopefully everyone without an email is checking their spam filters as well (if this is a mass email).

I hope you all hear something soon to relieve the stress a little bit, and remember that once May 1 comes around you will be settled somewhere.

RM1212 & Trojaan13, DS got that same financial aid email. It came Friday at 6:30 but he also had received it before so we didn’t think much of it and certainly didn’t realize that at the time, others were getting the no scholarship emails. He got the acceptance packet with no mention of scholarship yesterday.

You still have hope since his just came yesterday and we are in CA so I would guess we’d get the mail faster than you on the east coast. I think he will get the dean’s if past posts are correct for this year. He was not checking his ucconnect page so we don’t know when it was updated but the same letters that came with his packet are posted under “application status”. He doesn’t have the “information about the scholarship process tab” unless we are not looking in the right place.

Good luck to you both and I bet we will hear good news from you on Monday or Tuesday!

trojan13- I was not expecting to be admitted early either, I have very average stats for a school like USC. I got the update to my USC connect, but have not gotten my packet in the mail, and I live in Montana. Mail can be really weird sometimes, since I know some people on the East Coast have received theirs. It’s not out of the question that yours might still be coming!

I live in Louisiana and got my packet in the mail yesterday. So excited!

Going back to the RSVP tab on USConnect, should the tab only show up for those who have scholarship interviews? There was nothing in my packet about scholarships, but I’m pretty likely going to be a NMF so I’m okay with that. The PDF of the acceptance letter is there, but I don’t have the RSVP tab under events. I’m reallyyy looking forward to Explore USC haha

Finally got my USConnect account updated! Worth the wait! hope to see my packet in the mail tomorrow!

Thank you for the heads up, fidoprincess! Your post raised my spirits considerably, but I’ll be remaining cautiously optimistic/pessimistic (haven’t decided which yet) over the next week. I’ll post for sure no matter what happens! And congrats to your son! Fight on!

Also, for what it’s worth, my email is dated Friday at 9 PM.

Thanks for the positive message fidoprincess! I am going to remain optimistic until I hear anything.

Also RM1212- I have a feeling that whatever happens to one of us is going to be the same result for the other. My financial aid email was delivered at the same time. Fingers crossed for an acceptance tomorrow for the both of us!

I don’t think the financial aid email means anything. I got one on Friday too but I didn’t even apply before the scholarship deadline.

For those of you who have not received any email from USC, check your spam filter. Check to make sure your email address is correct w/USC. I might also suggest you check to make sure your application (and portfolio/supplement if necessary for your major) was complete with no missing documents. This is the first year USC is emailing anything en masse to applicants, so we cannot guess how they are doing things this cycle. But they do not go out of their way to make kids suffer. If you still have questions, you can call them tomorrow. Still sending good luck out there.

So did USC send its letters out through UPS, DHL, or something else?

Packages were sent USPS to US students. Not sure about internationals, but they have been DHL in the past.

This is an aside, but it’s almost bemusing looking at the stats thread and wondering what distinguished me from other applicants (I’m a Trustee finalist). So many amazing people applied!! I would choose a lot of them over me haha. I guess a lot of it came down to essays and probably who applied to what major…maybe Poli Sci was less competitive this year.

So I guess what I’m saying is, you’re all clearly incredible people and if you didn’t get the news you were hoping for, you shouldn’t at all feel bad about that so much of it comes down to luck and pure chance and if you’ve already accomplished this much in high school, just imagine what you can do in college!

Anyone from MA hear back?

Anyone from MA hear back?

I have not recieved an email about the scholarship rejection, my USC Connect has not been updated, and I haven’t gotten anything in the mail. I called and they said I will recieve a notification this week. What does that mean???
