Go bruins!!! :p

Applied by the scholarship deadline for Viterbi!! I got the Topping email but I know that doesnāt mean anything regarding merit scholarships! I have a question though. My brother is currently a freshman at USC, so does this mean I get legacy?

Applied to Viterbi before 12/1. No financial aid packet (Iām an international student).

@SpaceDuck I also received an email from Viterbi. But it seemed very generic. I doubt it means anything. It had this line: āBe sure to watch your mail and email throughout the next few monthsā. Also, āyour class already appears to be a very dynamic group of unique individuals from around the worldā. Right?
Anyone else got it?

Did anyone interview with them? I did but I didnāt feel confident in the end. I think I am just bad at interviews though, which is probably the reason that I donāt have a jobā¦

Is every applicant, even for scholarship consideration, suppose to receive that financial aid packet? Iām a USC QuestBridge applicant and I never received one. Should I call the admission office when they come back from break?

I donāt think getting the financial aid packet is a huge deal. Some people got it and some didnāt. Itās no reason to freak out, just because someone got it doesnāt mean they are admitted

Yeah, I wouldnāt worry about the financial aid packet. Iāve received financial aid packets from schools Iām applying to before even submitting my application. For all we know, USC may have sent out a fraction of them already and could be sending out the rest after break. Worrying about this would be rather unhealthy.

I think certain people got certain things for a reason. I think some people got the financial aid packet because they put a certain amount of family income on their application and some people got the topping email because they are first generations

I am first generation and I havenāt received the topping email.

^^ which is why I said āsomeā

I didnāt receive the packet but I think thatās because Iām an international applicant. I donāt think it means anything though.

I checked the packet and it was dated December 11. I guarantee they did not review my app in that amount of time. This in my opinion confirms the fact that the packet means nothing!

I am applying as an international student as well. I donāt think we receive the financial aid packet anyway because we arenāt eligible for the FAFSA and other forms of federal aid. :(

@bluthfamilymem I got that, but it was in a letter, not an email.

hoping for scholarship consideration.

You might look at correlating the receipt of a financial aid package with checking the āYesā button on the USC Application where it asks if you intend to apply for needs based financial aid. My guess is that if you checked yes, you will get the packet and if you checked āNoā you will not. Just a guess. S Checked āNoā and did not get the package.

Did get a letter from Viterbi saying, among other things, that the next step is to apply for financial aid. He called admissions and was told that he did not need to apply for financial aid to be considered for merit - just meet the Dec 1 deadline.

Hi! My nameās Kaitlyn, Iām from Massachusetts and Iām hoping (and praying!) I get into USC. My grades are there but like a lot of you Iām worried about my SAT scores. I applied to Annenberg and interviewed in Boston. Best of luck to everyone itās going to be a long three monthsā¦

@kaitlyn Iām from Massachusetts too! Nice to know that if I get in I wonāt be the only one from all the way across the country

@anar Oh, you definitely wonāt be! When I toured USC there was only 2 people from California and the other 14 were out of state. That surprised me because when I toured UCLA the day before I was the only one out of state haha

Iāve never visited UCLA nor USC, yet there my top choice schools. lol I live all the way in North Cal and thatās what make it hard to visit SoCal. Iām worried because I know that when certain people step on campus, itās some kind of feeling that develops and they either fall more in love with the campus or they hate it. However, I do watch a lot of YouTube videos and take virtual tours of the schools on their campus website, but I know itās not the same as actually being on campus. :-/

I am from Washington. I really like California and I applied to UCLA and Berkeley as well.
I havenāt really toured too many schools especially because deep down I have this fear that I will fall in love with a school and then it will reject meā¦ </3
