My stomach is in very painful knots. This is not healthy. I know only 5% are going to receive a letter in Jan, but when attendance depends upon the financial grace of a scholarship, the next few days for me will be like do or die.

Am I correct when I say we also receive a letter if we DO NOT receive a scholarship?

^correct to my understanding

^ Buy it comes later, a few weeks from now and I think is an email.

If the packages are being sent priority mail like one poster suggested then( generally everyone could take long) that is getting one should get it in three days per USPS.

You can then use this handy estimator map to see how long it will should take from 90007(usc’s zipcode)

https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/

But who knows how they are being sent this year and if they did go out yesterday like they did the last few years. We shall find out tonight.

Yoskis, 2 years ago when my son applied, every applicant received a snail mail letter with 2 possible outcomes. You are told that you are a candidate for one of their scholarships and therefore admitted or you are told that you are not a scholarship candidate and that you will receive your admission decision late March/early April. The vast majority of students are not scholarship candidates and receive their decisions late Mar/earlyApril. Good luck everyone!

^ Acceptances come in large manilla envelopes with the whole acceptance package and scholarship interview invite inside-- not a snail mail letter. It is obvious that it is an acceptance package from the outset.

I think GeorgeBailey was just referring to the fact that it comes via the mail carrier, not by email.

You are correct GertrudeMcFuzz:)

The scholarship rejection letters do not come through the mail.
Look at last years thread:

I just saw this this morning and I have a huge knot in my stomach. I applied for the WBB program within the Marshall school of business. Does anyone know if those students are still considered for scholarships etc?

Any news from socal today?

It is only 1o’clock but it appears my prediction was wrong.

@yaleandbama wait are you serious? I live in the Pasadena area and just checked my portal and didn’t get anything…

Yaleandbama, has your usc connect status changed?

I applied to the WBB program as well. As far as I know, we have to be accepted into USC before our applications are reviewed for WBB.

That post just disappeared, wut?

Have SoCal applicants typically gotten their letters one day after they were mailed??

Likely, since they are so close. But maybe predictions were not correct and the decisions did not go out on Wed. as stated. No one will really know until they start to be received.

If you guys check out USC’s twitter post (It’s their official admissions twitter) They specifically stated that people who applied by December 1st will be notified of their decisions early February.
https://twitter.com/USCAdmission/status/410947204573302784

Actually, the tweet states everyone who applied by Dec 1 will receive an UPDATE (not decision) by early February. Last year, those who were not selected to interview for a scholarship received the following email update:

Dear (Student’s name),

Thank you for your application to the University of Southern California. I am writing to update you regarding our admission programs, including selection for many of our scholarship programs.

Scholarship Selection
More than 28,000 students applied for admission in time to be considered for merit scholarships. We have identified approximately 1,000 finalists who will proceed to the next phase of consideration for our top awards: the Mork Family, Stamps Leadership, Trustee, and Presidential scholarships. Ioannis, I am sorry to say you were not selected for further consideration for these awards.
Your application will still be considered for other awards listed on our Scholarships page, and I encourage you to apply for financial aid if you have not already done so. Visit the Financial Aid website for application instructions. Also, if you are admitted, named a National Merit Finalist and select USC as your first-choice institution, you will receive a USC Presidential Scholarship worth one-half tuition.

Admission Selection
So far we have identified a small portion of the 9,000 first-year students to whom we will offer admission. There is plenty of room for great candidates.
We are working hard to ensure that you and all other applicants receive the utmost consideration during the coming weeks. I am grateful for your patience as you wait for us to finish this hard work.

Mid-Year Reports
If you or your school counselor has not already done so, please submit your final grades from the first term of your senior year. For your convenience, you can report them online at USConnect.
Decision Notification
We expect to finish our review and mail notification of our decision during the last week in March, so you have it by April 1. In the meantime, you can visit USConnect to check the status of your application.
Thank you for applying to USC. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us online or at (213) 740-1111.
