Just to be practical, if we don’t receive anything today, does that most probably mean we aren’t a candidate for a scholarship? Thanks!
You would be surprised how many 4.0+ with over 2300 SAT don’t even get accepted, yet get a scholarship. It is highly competitive out there and USC is looking at way more than stats - it is about demographics, hooks, stats, ECs, essays, recommendations. Remember they are 35% international now as well, that is a big chunk of their admit group. GPA and test scores are a tiny part of the picture. What worries me every year is how many students think they are slam dunks for scholarships or being admitted because they have good stats then are devastated when the results come in. All you can do is do your best, hope for good things and hang tough! There is a college for everyone out there, whether it is USC or not.
@Fireball99
2350 SAT
3.9 UW
4.4 W
I had a letter of recommendation from an MIT professor from an MIT summer program that was absolutely amazing (I hadn’t realized I had impressed him so much) and that probably helped a lot.
Applied to BME
2 summer of research experience (at UCLA though haha)
I got the white box today (and was accepted), but I could not find anything about a scholarship or merit awards. Does this info not come with the box? Can it be found online? I couldn’t find anything on the USC page, possibly because as some were saying above that it is updated on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
@geekmom1 - think good thoughts, and with those stats, he is certain to get some great offers from lots of places. Is USC his #1? Which major? Maybe something will come tomorrow, things do show up on Tuesday! He could still be admitted and with NMF get the 1/2 rather than through Pres. Either way it’s a good half!
@Teesh99 If there is not a paper about scholarship, you are likely to get Deans (1/4) and will hear about that in next few days or on portal (which should be updated soon too). But you are admitted, congrats!
@spicykins - Congrats! Loved your hindsight on your stat posting. You are wise indeed.
Miami area. S got the package today. Accepted and finalist for Presidential scholarship. Super excited. He is NMSF. SAT 2250. Excellent ECs. Straight A’s throughout high school. Lots of APs.
Is there a possibility to still get a presidential or trustee nomination if I got accepted today but with no mention of a schoalrship??
Is it possible for someone who lives in Norcal to still get something? Hearing about people across the country receiving a package is making me lose hope, since I don’t live extremely far from LA.
Accepted and Presidential finalist in South FL.
SAT: 2360 / GPA: 4.0
Received acceptance and Presidential Finalist notification today.
From Alabama; 34 ACT and 2180 SAT.
Does anyone know the likelihood of actually receiving the scholarship?
Very unexpected and exciting, but now I wonder if they invite a ton of people and only give out a few.
I received my acceptance letter/package today, but no letter or even mention of any scholarship consideration/decision. Anyone know what this means? Also, could someone reply or send me the portal link?
Anyone from the NYC area get anything yet? My mail has been delivering but nothing from the school
@aaronesmailian It means that you are being considered for Dean’s. The portal is you.usc.edu, but it hasn’t been updated yet.
when will the portal be updated?
Thanks @Spicykins !!! just out of curiosity, how do you know this is the case? And when would I know?
Yes, his #1 choice and declared NM 1st choice.
Maybe AZ mail is slow.
DS got the box today in NorCal… he is on BART coming home and doesn’t know! Dying to find out what it says!!! Older brother got Presidential Scholarship and has loved every minute at USC
Hey everyone, I’m from Southern California and posted this in the Parent’s Forum, but I figured I’d share the news here as well. Got my acceptance package today with notification that I am a finalist for their full-tuition scholarships. Will be attending the overnight interview trip, although I’m not sure which days I will go.
Congrats to everyone who received their packages today, and best of luck to those who are still waiting!
