Don’t mind me, I just wanted to be the 1000th reply.
My pleasure. Your generation has way too much stress as it is.
Assuming I get rejected from USC, is it possible to contact an admissions counselor who can help me select specific courses at the university I attend in the fall that meet transfer requirements and pinpoint the weaknesses in my application so I’ll know how to improve myself as a transfer?
If you do not get in, they may offer you the Trojan Transfer Plan which would do just what you are asking. Only those on the TTP get the luxury of meeting with an advisor to discuss transferring, and offer suggestions what to take based on the school you are attending. You meet with them during the summer before you start/register for Freshman year classes. They are pretty strict on offering this service only to potential transfers that get offered the TTP, I suppose this is because if they offered advising to all transfer applicants, they would need to triple their staff. However, there are online articulation agreements which tell you which classes transfer from the most common schools, and you can look those up once you know the school you would attend, if not USC.
People are notified if they are being offered the TTP on the rejection/denied letter. If it is not on that letter, you are not being offered the TTP. Best of luck @pterosprite, I think many on here are cheering for you!
@CADREAMIN thank you, that means a lot to me! I also live in Virginia, so I’d guess it would be hard to meet and work with an admissions counselor like that, but I am hopeful that phone and email correspondence would help.
Since USC doesn’t ask all its applicants to send a mid year report, do you guys think they still count 7th semester grades in the admissions process? Or, are only grades 9-11 considered?
@coldplayer98 they do ask all students to send a mid year report??
They do not ask all of their applicants. They technically “require” it from all, but they don’t expect you to send it in unless they directly ask for it. @gracein19
@coldplayer98 They expect you to send it in. You shouldn’t wait until they specifically send you an email asking for it when they already say that they will factor it into the admission process. This is straight from their website:
Generally, for the purposes of admission into USC, we review an applicant’s coursework from grade 9 through the first term of his or her senior year. Students need to use the Mid-Year Report Form included in the Common Application or visit www.usc.edu/midyeargrades to submit their fall grades as soon as they become available.
@coldplayer98 Seems clear to me they expect you to send mid-year grades. You can choose to ignore that until they ask you for it, but I’m sure they are savvy enough to suspect A. you have something to hide or B. are not very diligent or C. don’t follow directions well.
It’s your decision what you want to bet on.
I had a dream last night that I got the big yellow envelope! Then, I woke up and I realized that it’s only March 7th. I would rather tear my nails completely off one by one than wait any longer…No, really.
I am 100% with you.
I’m trying to stay busy to distract myself. But it’s not working very well. Apparently my mind can multi-task.
Wait so I’m confused, I noticed on yousc portal that there was a link to upload mid year grades but I didn’t do that because it was done through the common app by my counselor(aka mom since I’m homeschooled) so is that bad? Was I supposed to upload it there too or not?
@bananafofanna I believe if it was uploaded via the common app, then you’re fine. And @dyafai , I believe the envelopes come in white this year. I saw a video posted by a girl opening her package and it was a white cardboard almost material
@ClassOf2020x I saw that video, too! Her package looked big! I was thinking maybe she got a big package because she was up for a presidential scholarship.
@filmdreamer23 Oh that’s true… that would be quite expensive to send every accepted student such a big, sturdy envelope haha. Given that I live on east coast, I think I’m going to find out via portal before I receive the actual mail
@filmdreamer23 “Her package looked big!” Haha…I’m so childish. But yeah, seeing her open that thing was so nerve racking because I was so intimidated that she had already been admitted… :((
Hi! Has anyone here applied to the 5-year combined OT program? Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into that program specifically? gaaah so nervous for decisions
This is just a comment regarding stacking of National Merit Half Tuition Scholarships…
If a National Merit Scholar is admitted and places SC first on the form he/she will receive the scholarship upon enrollment. In addition, the scholar will also receive a $1000 a year scholarship. Some of the SC schools award smaller scholarships to National Merit recipients. These may be in the $2000 to $5000 range.
When your financial aid package is received be sure it is the FINAL statement. If there is a tragedy or dramatic change in your family’s economic position, be sure to let the financial aid office know.
Way back when I had an interview with an admissions counselor locally, I emailed her to thank her for her time and told her I was excited to tour campus in March. The other day she emailed me back telling me she remembered me and asked what day I was visiting. We now have a meeting set up! I’m totally freaking out, is me freaking out justified?! I don’t know why I’m so nervous I’m sure she just wants to chat but…still!!
