USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

In case anyone has questions on USPS informed delivery, here is a link to their page that explains what you can and cannot see on informed delivery. https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Informed-Delivery-The-Basics

@TreeAlum , wow i did not know that there might be such pleasant surprise. My older daughter got presidential scholarship last year (after the interview). My second daughter want to follow her big sister, but did not get invited for interview this year, so she knew that her chance being able to go to USC is harder, given we wonā€™t get any financial aid. I am not complaining (oh well, maybe just a bit). But yes, if there is no merit scholarship, it is hard, harder for middle class kids to get into such school. Thank again for your post, I am hoping for my second daughter now.

My mom just sent a pic of my USC package and itā€™s yellow what does that mean

@Samhal pretty sure it means you got in as a spring admit? Congrats either way!!! :slight_smile:

Anyone from the Phoenix area?

@oregonkiddo only speculation, but I would think if not in the next couple days you could be one of the earlier transfer admits. Some TTP find out very early (while others have quite a wait). Hereā€™s hoping, let us know! Good luck!

@Samhal Spring Admit I think

I got home early from school and the mail already came. Nothing from USC and I live only 40 minutes from campus. Iā€™m guessing I probably got rejected?

@colparents It was a surprise for sure! I think it isnā€™t talked about much because only about 10 USC Associates scholarships are given out each year. Itā€™s been nice - she was invited to a USC Associates tailgate during football season and they also invited each student to come to meet people in the office so they can meet and get to know the kids who get the scholarships. I do think this year there is also a chance for the Deans because those recipients werenā€™t accepted early this year.

@Samhal Yellow is a spring admit. Would be good to start a thread for those, there have been helpful conversations about that on here previously and it helps spring admits connect. Congrats you are in and thereā€™s some good ways to do that if you want to!

@instantkarma123 Thanks for sharing your inspiring story. It is spot-on for decision days, as truly talented students of every stripe are being denied by the thousands.

@InstantKarma123 Great great great post!! Congratulations on your perseverance and success!

@InstantKarma123 thank you for the advice. Beautiful story

@Safalm2019 You didnā€™t pay attention to what I was stating. I understand that the process is ā€œneed blindā€. I do not think they give preference to those who can pay their way. I didnā€™t even ask for FA, but Iā€™ve been denied almost everywhere with decent ECs, high stats (1560 SAT), good grades, etc. I think these schools admit a lot of lower income students who cannot pay, and the Elite schools are fully prepared to cover the cost of those students. In fact, what I am saying is that the recruited athletes, the super rich (those in the donor class) and the poor are preferred over the middle class ā€“ even those that arenā€™t asking for help ā€“ usually b/c they fulfill the ā€œFirst Generationā€ and/or URM quota.

Received my package! Live about 45 mins away

Like @CADREAMIN wrote earlier when you can (I know you need to enjoy the fantastic news), try to post your location and into what school/major you were admitted.

Do you get a choice between fall and spring? Canā€™t seem to remember!

Got the package at 11:45 AM!!

@chicclassic CONGRATS!!! Where do u live?
