USC Class of 2027 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

I don’t recall seeing or hearing about that.

We applied Dornsife and only get emails about fa reminders….sigh…

Saw this on another forum:
I really wonder if the second look will be a true second look for the 38k deferred to RD.

They have so many applications - they have likely already scored each of the EA applications so they will only second look the top end of the remaining EAs (both academic chops and shaping the class) - no reason why they would go back and read every one of the remaining 38k applications again…

I think a main reason they did EA this year was to unburden the reading time from Jan 15 to March 31. And they effectively did that.

My wild guess is that 10-20% of the remaining 38k applications will be truly read again/considered at RD cycle. Am I wrong?

I don’t think the math works. They aren’t taking 75 percent of the class from RD only and 25 percent from EA when both groups are the same size and the EA group is likely more talented and more interested pool.

But he does however get the Dornsife newsletter :woman_shrugging:

His second choice major is in Dornsife, but first choice was in Marshall.

to assist students with high financial need who demonstrate an extraordinary level of community awareness in their pursuit of higher education at USC .

Completely agree. S23 applied ED as a legacy (different school). He was deferred but now I’m wondering since the school seems to like to admit exactly 1% more URMs than Legacy did applying as a legacy hurt him?

Anyway I support legacy admissions at least at private colleges. Who do people think funds all that generous financial aid-- ALUMS.

I’m guessing very few will pull their applications, even if they know they won’t be able to afford it. They may just want to know if they’d get in.

What time tomorrow will the results be available?

yes I did too!

I don’t believe my son got this, but we also are not likely to fall in the category of “financial need”…

please let me know if you get an answer to this!

Does anyone know if deferrals or acceptances come out first tomorrow? (Also around what time can we expect our decisions)?

Yes they do. Usually after 3 but who knows they could start earlier. I’m guessing most will be glued to their portal starting in the morning tomorrow.

They got better in last two years and getting everything up at once, so hopefully acceptances and deferrals come at same time.

No, nothing
