I didn't send in a copy of my taxes at all. Under Oasis it doesn't list it as a required document and I called up USC FA, and they said that I didn't need to send anything in. Weird right? Because it clearly says on the website that we need to send in a copy of the 2007 taxes. So what do you think I should do now?

Finally they have everything of mine for the financial aid. Took them about a week and a half before they said they got it through fax

I ended up calling yesterday about my transcripts that were definitely received before Feb. 1. The guy was very helpful and checked different places but it must have been lost. I ended up faxing the cover sheet and unofficial transcripts, and I will mail another official transcript as soon as I get it.

It's funny, after I finally decided to call yesterday, today I checked my mailbox and whaddya know -- a letter from USC saying "We're missing your transcripts." Thanks!! :P

women of troy- haha i was thinking the same thing about the mailing instead of faxing...every time i try to fax my stuff in to usc my papers don't go through so im just gonna mail my papers in. I think it should be just the same.

yeah. Faxing is expensive too. :P

Hey guys! New to CC and just applied for Fall '08 to USC. I am currently a Freshman in college; here are my stats:

High School:

3.5-3.6 GPA
1820 SAT
EC: Freshman XCountry, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track
JV Football, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track
Habitat for Humanity Tennessee
Volunteer Latin/Greek/Algebra and Geometry tutor at high school
Wall Street Internship at Deutsche Bank at 17

I had a job or jobs from Summer of Freshman year in high school until graduation (during school and during the summer)

Awards: Principal's Honor Roll, General Excellence, First and Second Honors multiple times, Straight As award...the usual; 2x Summa Cum Laude, 1x Magna Cum Laude award winner on National Latin Exam; only student nominated in school's history to take a university latin class at Fordham University (went to prep high school on same campus)

College:

Pace University (New York City) approx. 8,500 students
Major: Business Undecided
GPA: 3.91
Credits: 14
Classes taken so far: ENG 120 (4 credits)/HIS 113 (3 credits)- these two classes were a Learning Community; they supplemented each other...PSY 111(3 credits), ECO 105 (3 credits), UNV 101 (1 credit)..Pass/Fail introduction to college kinda course

I figure that I won't get credit for the UNV 101 course and may not get 4 credits for the ENG 120 class so I should have either 12-13 transferrable credits right now

Work: University Writing Center Consultant (Tutor)...first Freshman to be given this position

ECs: Lambda Sigma National Honors Society nomination (currently applying for president/vice president position)

Classes taking this semester:

PHI 225: Contemporary Philosophy (3 credits)
MAT 104: Finite Mathematics (3 credits)
ECO 106: Microeconomics (3 credits)
ENG 201: Writing in the Disciplines (3 credits)
CHE 111: General Chemistry I (4 credits)- lab class also

Total: 16 credits; should have about 27 or 28 transferrable credits to USC by the end of this semester

I applied to USC as an Economics Major First-Choice and put Classics as my Second-Choice because I have an interest in it and I know not many people are going to choose that one

I think I'll probably get a letter asking for my Spring Semester grades; I don't think I'll get in immediately because I've only had one semester but if I can keep my GPA high...3.9 or so after a year of college...I think they'll let me in...what do you guys think?

Burt-- I assume your writing classes meet the minimum USC writ requirement. But i don't see Diversity! Based on that I say, not Fall 08. Sorry.

They do. You don't see diversity with regard to what aspect(s)? Thanks for your input.

I don't know SC's course#s, but required is either an Anthopology or Sociology course equivilency to USC's --- anyone know the course #?

Burt- I just rechecked. Diversity is listed under Core Requirement, not Required for Admission. So, maybe the math and writing requirements are all you'll need. Anyone?

Yeah, you're right mmck55, at least the second time. The "Diversity" thing is not a requirement for admission but rather a category that they require you to participate in in order to graduate. I did not even notice that until now, because I was only looking at the Transfer Packet PDF they have, and it does not have it on there. Like I said before, though, if I had to take a guess, I'd say they request my Spring Semester grades. Also, I think the fact that I'm not coming from a real small community college or something like that but rather a pretty good sized university will help my chances.

Any one else have any input about this?

Just posting to keep this at the top of the Transfer forum. Go TROJANS!!!!

Hey I'm applying as a Junior Transfer Econ major from an out of state university. I have a ton a credits built up, I'm in the honors program with solid EC's real nice essays, and a letter of rec. from a 5th generation USC alumn with lots of ties in the University. I currently have a 3.78 GPA with a 4.0 in my econ and calculus classes (6 of em'). Think I got a good shot? I'm also curious has anyone ever heard of Junior transfers being asked for Spring Grades? I know it's unlikely with my GPA and 1.5 years of college work finished. Just curious if any one has ever heard of this?

I have never heard of it, and as you said, I think it is very unlikely. I think anyone that has a GPA of 3.75 or above with a significant amount credits is in good standing, as long as they are pretty well-rounded individuals (ECs, work, etc.). I don't know all your specifics, but I say from this, that you get-in. Just curious, what classes brought your GPA down to a 3.78, considering the fact that you have a 4.0 in classes like calculus?

the classes with words!

I figured that English and related courses usually get the mathematicians and vice versa.

Question: I send my college transcript already but yesterday i dropped one of my class do I have to notify USC?

I don't know whether your transcript has the current classes you are taking or just the ones from past semesters. Either way, it doesn't make much of a difference. The only two situations are: 1) If they accept you off the bat then it certainly isn't going to be because you had that one class that you dropped (its not a significant factor). And 2) if they ask for your Spring grades, they will find out anyway, so don't worry about it. It's not worth telling them additional information that they don't require, especially information that doesn't improve your chances of admission.
