USC Fall 08 transfers

yeah ksbr27...im hoping it has a good deal of significance. I have a 3.91 GPA but I'm only a second-semester Freshman, which is why I think I'm on the bubble. I'm thinking they'll ask for my Spring Semester grades. I wonder though, now that I think about it, since my Spring Semester ends May 13th if I could send my Spring Semester grades immediately after before they even send out a decision. Probably not, but I'll ask...

Technically they are two different schools (Leventhal and Marshall), but I think you have to be in Marshall first to apply for Leventhal. Someone correct me if i'm wrong

if i dont get into marshall but get accepted for econ major once im there can i transfer over to Marshall and major in business?

I put down Marshall as my first choice and Levanthall as my second choice. Is this not a possible choice? Should I make corrections?

jimmy242...i believe you can but it is usually very hard to do this and graduate in 4 years...it depends on your circumstances...what years you are..what classes you've taken etc.

generally a student in a professional college (business etc.) can switch-out relatively easily, but it is difficult the other way around from what i've heard form admission officers

burtonboarder-i would think they would ask for your spring grades, especially since you're a second semester freshman and you're probably now taking the WRIT-140 equivalent (i.e. second-semester english). i would email them and ask to see if they want to your spring grades when you get them. and fyi, so jealous you get out in may....my last final at my CCC isn't until june 3. sick.

Yeah, I'll find out. And that sucks that your last final is June 3rd. Technically my last day is May 13th but a lot of the teachers are too lazy to give finals during the exam week so they just give shorter in-class versions, so I may get out in early May....YEAAAHHHH!!!!

Burtonboarder: Last year I applied as a freshmen transfer and they requested my spring grades. My last final was one the 29th of June and they wanted them by the 30th at the latest so you'll be fine.

My last day is June 30th.....awesome.....

That is insane...when do you start school in December??? haha

haha I started September 24th

Tried to log on to STARS but it doesn't let me what password is needed? I used the same one I used for my application but it didn't work. Or do I have to sign up somewhere?

i had the same problem, woman.of.troy. i want to know how i can log on and find that cute little loophole!

I logged in to the STARS thing with my USC ID (the numbers) and a password that is different from my regular OASIS login. I don't remember how I picked this password, but I remember around February there was a link by the submit button to let you pick your password. Sorry I can't help that much with this.

Login to Financial Aid (oasis) is diff than login to application which is also different for the login to STARS (Oasis). I have 3 diff logins for each one

laguna, how did you get your STARS login? i have my login for my app and i didn't file financial aid so i don't have an OASIS login.

I don't remember. But I just have my USC ID and a password I think i set up a while ago and it lets me log into oasis and i get to see a lot of stuff. Let me take a screen for you guys hold up

Login through here: <a href="https://camel.usc.edu/OASIS/Login.aspx%5B/url%5D">https://camel.usc.edu/OASIS/Login.aspx</a></p>

takes me to this:

<a href="http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/4249/oasisxn7.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/4249/oasisxn7.jpg</a></p>

good to know, laguna! when i find that loophole to register for the main OASIS that is the menu to look for. so far i registered for what i thought was OASIS, but instead it was the financial aid portion of OASIS so i am still back at square one, although now i have two places where it gives me the "we have received your application" message.

This may sound like a stupid question, because I don't know much about transfering. But can I transfer following one year at another college/university? I'm currently a highschool senior and I have my heart set on USC but I'm on the fence on whether I get in. So can I go for my freshman year somewhere else and transfer and come in before my sophomore year? And do I apply at the October 08 deadline?

Hey gnrxc, welcome to CC. Yes you can apply for transfer to USC after only one year of college. In fact a good deal of people on here are doing that. If applying as a sophomore transfer (after only one year of college), USC will base your admissions on both your high school and college stats. You have to accumulate 30 credits of college coursework in order for them to base your acceptance solely on your college coursework. So, if you really bombed in high school, you may have some trouble getting into USC after only one year of college. But considering your on the fence now, you should have a good shot of getting accepted presuming you do well in college.

And just for the record, the deadline to apply for Fall 2009 would actually be February 1, 2009, not October 08. The Part I is due in October, but the main application isn't due until February. So good luck with everything and if you have any questions just shoot them out there.
