USC Fall 08 transfers

yeah, the articulation agreements are just those courses that transfer/quality for credit between USC and another institution. more people do apply from CCC's though, hence why their transfer profile has a LOT of CCC people.

meanwhile, i was lurking like a creeper in the USC forum, and it appears the last of the freshman decisions have been mailed. now it's our turn!

YES! Power to the transfers!!

good luck to everyone, and i hope all of us CCers get in, because we're just awesome like that.

hey guys! i'm about to finish my first year here @ sc and decided to check back up on this forum. like many of you i applied as a transfer student at local cc and used this forum as a support group. the reason i'm posting today is to dispell one of the popular theories that some of you have.

no matter how much money your family has, it is still a wise decision to apply for aid. i happen to know many kids who are very well off that still received decent financial aid packages. something is better than nothing right? hang in there and good luck to all of you!

btw has goldenjet been posting in this thread? he's been applying for the last couple of years and came up just a little short. if you are out there goldenjet, this year is your year. i know it!

Do you think Econ @ CLAS is easier to get into than Business?

^^^absoultely. many prospective marshall transfers that put econ as their second choice major were admitted into econ, but not marshall. if your heart is dead set on marshall and you are accepted into econ you can try to transfer schools within usc.

SCorBust--Do you know if its any easier to get into SPPD than CLAS? What CCC did you go to?

SCorBust- thanks for your reply. How hard is it to transfer into Marshall from Econ considering that as of now I have all the pre-reqs done for Marshall and how fast can you transfer?

i'm not too sure about sppd. and i went to santa monica college btw

jenny- well first off let me just say that i entered usc as a history major and after my first semester i changed my major to linguistics. (just in case you thought i was a marshall or econ student). my information on the subject comes from fellow transfers.

for those admitted you will notice that on orientation day the majority of transfer students are marshall students, so i happen to know many. to answer your questions (which i will get further clarification on later), it seems like there are a good number of people that transfer as econ majors into marshall. i will ask the ones that i know if they have actual statistics on the subject. i will also find the answer to your second question.

I think it's clear that 4 year university work can be quite demanding regardless of the uni's rank. The average GPA of the last admitted transfer class as stated on the USC website was 3.7 so you're pretty much safe in those terms. I guess it all depends on having a good portfolio (app.) built up and the relative difficulty of your major or professional school. You have a good shot though, statistically speaking. Just make sure you;ve finished as many pre-reqs and core reqs. lest they ask you for spring grades.

sunshadow-
USC doesn't consider geography as an advantage for transfers.

Mykris202 is right. Articulation agreements let prospective applicants know which classes to take and which core requirements it fulfills so there's no excuse to not take transferable courses if someone is attending in the LACommCollegeDistrict. It's very helpful. If your school isn't on the list, you may call your regional rep. and ask for an articulation history which is pretty much the same thing: classes that admitted students to USC from your current school took that transferred.

Also, USC doesn't have any guaranteed admission agreements with everyone or programs that give an advantage like the TAP program. I looked everywhere, lol. So we're all on equal grounds.

Wow. I went away for a little while and two more pages appear at random for me to catch up on. Aaaah! @ freshman decisions being done. >_<

DJS3CA- Thanks! I know it just means a LOT and that's why I worry.

P.s. I FINALLY registered and got into that weird OASIS thing with the STARS Report. found it on the freshmen boards... for all of you who haven't

what am I supossed to be looking at here? STARS? o_O Let me know what you guys get when you log-in. thx.

THANK YOU WOMAN.OF.TROY. you are my hero!

SCorBust, thanks so much for all your info-i am a fellow SMC hopeful wanting to go to USC, and i have a question-did you put a second choice major, and was it also inside CLAS? for a bit of background, i applied to CLAS under french for first choice, and School of Theatre for BA theatre (there are two different programs) as my second and filed a supplement for School of Theatre. do you know when the separate professional schools will send out their decisions, and do they do it separately from undergrad admissions or do they just do it in one big thing? i know it's kind of an odd question, but i am realizing that if i get in under both CLAS and Theatre, i may be choosing my second choice major at the end of the day.

so i just tried to register and it keeps telling me invalid ID or PIN.

honestly, don't make it hard for me or anything, USC.

The only thing in the Oasis thing I would find valuable is to check Financial Aid until they award you with something I guess

ksbr27- make sure that you're not typing out the year of your birthdate just the last too. ex: like for me, 88. I realized I kept typing out 1988.

Laguna- Cool, thanks. I was wondering what I'm supossed to be looking for but it says I'm still missing my parent's faxed income taxes even tho I got the email that they received it. Last updated 2/20. I sent them 3/18 so obviously they haven't looked at them or updated.

it still says invalid. could it be that i didn't file financial aid this year?
