USC Fall 08 transfers

well, all DECISIONS will be mailed, but they don't mention that a decision option is the request for spring grades. THEN you won't hear until july.

i think i am going to wait to try the orientation commitment site method sometime next month. it's still march, so i'm not expecting anything now...but i want to know!

sunshadow and ksbr- when i applied to usc i had about 35 units completed with 16 in progress. my gpa was around a 3.8.

j3nnyyx- acceptances, rejections (for a lack of better words), and requests for spring grades are sent out by June 1st. if you are given a request for spring grades, which anybody transferring in as a sophmore will get and many junior transfers as well, then you will get your decsion a couple of weeks (sometimes more) after you send in your spring transcripts. the good thing is that they don't have to be official until you actually enroll.

SCorBust, I have around 70 units and around a 3.8. You think they'll ask for my spring grades?

with my luck i'll be one of the lucky juniors who gets a spring grades request even with my 78 units.

Yeah im def getting asked my spring grades

j3nnyyx3 and ksbr27- it's really hard to say whether or not you are going to get a request for spring grades. a lot of depends on your major, the number people that applied, and other factors.

i just remember going through this whole ordeal last year and it seemed like the majority of transfers from the original usc transfer thread and the people i talked to at orientation received a request for spring grades.

here's the original thread. lots of good info on here

thanks SCorBust! i know of a CCer who is transferring from a CCC (honestly, all of these Cs are making my head hurt!) who is a fellow french major who has a either a 3.8 or a 4.0, and basing on that i'm sure i will get ye olde request for spring grades. although now i'm curious as to seeing if my professional school that i applied to for second-choice if they want me...hm. i guess i'll be emailing bruce grier this week!

I thought it was interesting that my D got a letter stating that the only thing outstanding in her transfer file was her high school transcript. They never asked for her SAT scores even though she is only a second semester freshman. (She wasn't thrilled with them, so decided to wait to see if they asked her for them...they did NOT). Perhaps it's because she had a 4.0 her first semester?
I also called her regional adcom to confirm her file was complete and he did not ask for them either. Hmm...

SCorBust- Really juniors getting asked for spring grades? Is that for borderline people? Drat. I just want a straightforward answer...I think I'm a yes or no person. :P

Admissions are so weird & random. I don't even know what anybody wants anymore. Just doing things by the book and hoping they work out. =)
It'd be cool to know early before my backup came out.. but that's... unlikely... because they just started transfers.

Anyone know what the acceptance rate is for each school for transfers?

I wish! If so, Annenberg please.

Woman of Troy- Private's dont have to do things by the book though. IF you want a university that ONLY does things according to the book, UC's are for you.

I have a story about the chancellor at UCLA.... They def do things only by the book

That's what I was alluding to.
I meant more of in terms of what they "say" they want in a student.
All this criteria...

Im in Biology right now on CC, I am crazy!!!!!!

ehhh I know this is the USC thread. I wont shun UCLA if I get in. But if I get into both UCLA and USC, USC is getting my money.

I like both. But I have a preference. :P Lucky... our school doesn't HAVE wireless. I just happen to have the day off.

P.s. Did you all hear that freshmen admissions offers were cut back to 21%?

Yes I did. Pretty crazy. Good for USC, if we get in just boost up our reputation.

and housing! lol
^_^

I go away for one weekend and this thread blows up with like 8 new pages, wow. I read through all of them. whew.

Now is our time, people... transfers!!! Go us. I'm nervous!

Just called Office of Admissions to double check and they finally have all my application materials, yay.

I asked if they were starting to look at transfer applications, and she said "We'll probably start transfers next week. All decisions will be made by June 1st."

I must say, I don't mind calling USC at all because they don't put you on hold for very long, if at all, and they always sound so warm and welcoming.

My friend just got accepted to USC Medical School (!!!) and that makes me want to go to USC even more, because then 3 of my circle of friends can call ourselves Trojans. Crossing my fingers!
