assuming your friend is in HS

Do you have 70 semester units completed? or quarter units? just curious because you have to divide your quarter units by 1.5 to adjust to semester if that is the case. If not than wow you have a lot done and I don't see any reason for them to request spring grades.

Scorbust-Was it hard to get housing since you got accepted in July?

Scorbust-I talked to goldenjet a little while ago and he's applying to USC this year for his third attempt.

just so you all know it doesn't matter if you have done more than 60 units, there is still a chance you will get a request for spring grades. some of the reasons you may get a request are the following:

-you are currently taking a pre-req for a major you are applying to
-you are taking the second semester of english required for admission
-usc takes your trend in grades into consideration. you may have messed up in one semester and they want to see how you perform this semester
-you may be borderline and the deciding factor is your grades this semester

usc24- i actually had an apt. in west los angeles while i was still at a ccc. i still did apply for housing and sent in a housing deposit as soon as i was accepted, just in case i wanted to dorm.

a couple of weeks later i received a phone call from them saying that they would be able to offer me housing, although not in the dorms i requested. in the end, i decided to keep my apt. here in west la and commute. so there is hope for you if you get accepted really late as i did

tjmoss22- I have 70 Semester units completed.

usc24- goldenjet is actually the main reason i stopped by this forum. i really hope the third time is the charm for him. goldenjet, if you are out there stop by and say hi. i'm rooting for you buddy!

so why didnt he get in... i mean 3 times.... its a tad sad

Can somebody explain why my parent's tax documents are under both required and pending?? It's been like that for almost 2 weeks now. Does that mean that there's something missing?

man if i really do find find out in july.. i would be in a very tough spot.. need to make travel arrangements from Hong Kong..plus my current school is in upstate new york =.=. hopefully i'll find sooner rather than later

scorbust- ya I talked to goldenjet a lot when he was on CC on a consistent basis. If we both get accepted to USC, we planned on meeting on orientation and also try out for the USC hockey team. I called him the 'Rudy' of USC lol.

Is the apt. in west LA pretty nice? Do you recommend living in an apartment instead of a dorm?

j3nnyycx3- I'm in the same boat and I faxed mine last week. I just think they are just behind and haven't updated the 'required' field yet because they still haven't reviewed the documents yet.

btw i forgot to mention something. last year when i applied i received a letter in the mail sometime in april. it was a thin envelope.

the letter started off something like "this year we had a record number of applicants...last year we accepted x amount of transfers and our acceptance rate dropped by x percent...this year we are accepting an even smaller amount of transfers."

i was freaking out because i thought it was the prelude to a rejection, but as i read on it was pretty much just a statistical letter. so, if you get that letter in the mail don't freak out like i did.

usc24- i love my apt in west la. for me choosing to live in apt. was a matter of preference. i did the whole dormitory thing when i was in the military and i decided that having my own apt. would be the best thing for me considering that i knew the workload would be considerably harder than what i was used to. not to mention, i'm a little older than the average student at sc.

if you would like to have a very active social life then i would recommend the dorms. don't get me wrong though, you can still live in the dorms and buckle down and study.

also, even though a live closer to ucla then usc, i would still say that it is not hard to have a social life around campus. the thing that sucks though is driving back home at 5am on friday morning when i could have just walked if i was dorming.

is it still in a big red envelope?

scorbust- Either one would satisfy me regarding housing because I live in Orange county and I don't want to commute from here. The only thing that concerns me is safety. I know around USC, it is not safe but since you live near UCLA, then you are pretty safe. Is your appt. pretty expensive since I'm assuming it's a nice area?

Also, if I choose to live on campus, do you think it's necessary to bring my car?

DJS3CA - my friend that was just accepted to USC Med School is graduating from UCSD this spring with a BA. My friends (myself included) are High School Class of 2004. I am just a... late bloomer, shall we say?

so they haven't started on transfer apps yet? weeeeell OK then.

meanwhile, i await the decision of UCSB, which, of course, still says "decision pending." i have a feeling i may need a tattoo with the words "decision pending" to get through this...

for viterbi school of engineering they said they will issue an e-mail regarding the application status via e-mail, not decision. they told me they won't mail anyting on april 1st because they don't want to make people to think it's a joke lol
anyway, just putting stuffs i know

soo. freshmen acceptance rate this year dropped from 24-25% to under 21%. Anyone know what the acceptance rate for us transfers might be?? This sucks.
