USC GE Requirements

Does USC weigh how many GE courses you complete in their admissions decision? I know it’s not a requirement to complete all of them but does Marshall look at them closer because it is so competitive? I may miss 1 or 2 prior to transferring.

It is my bet they would put a lot in consideration. I am trying to transfer as well. They would have to cause they would need to weigh how many credits to transfer over.

No one has responded to my thread yet but with a 3.81 GPA for my first semester, how is my outlook. The biggest worry are my high school grades. I had 3.49 unweighted GPA with a 18 ACT and 1300 SAT. I am currently active in two clubs. I just want someone’s opinion about how I am looking. Goal right now is to apply and stay consistent.

I am political science major by the way and I will have 22 units by spring and hopefully 38 by end.

I don’t think 1-2 will make a “huge” difference in your application. My Marshall transfer friends were missing 1-2 and they were still admitted. Take them if possible so you can save money if you were to be admitted.

@DanHuynhCA IMO, the best choice is to wait and apply as a junior, so they don’t focus on your highschool stats. It doesn’t hurt to apply right now and try, but I think you’ll have a better shot as a junior since you seem to have a solid start so far. That also gives you time to take on some leadership roles in your clubs and boost your application that way.
Have you already petitioned and secured getting the 22 units? Even though you’ll be over the 30 units (the cutoff for USC viewing your HS grades), they might want to see more from you. It depends on the courses you have taken and are planning on taking. Have you taken any pre reqs for political science? That would help too.

I’ll be taking posc 100 next semester and the goal is to get an “A” It’s one of those next semester that I truly “must” get an “A”. Yes I am still applying and applying to 5 others. Call me insane. I read a lot on my chances today. I honestly feel extremely frustrated. I confess, I feel an incredible unhappiness in my life right now. All I want to do right is do my best and write the best application right now.
