Hey guys,
I have an interview on Friday for USC Marshall. It's my top choice school, and I am wondering if anyone has any experience, advice, or suggestions on what I should do to be prepared?

What major are you?

1st choice : business administration 2nd : economics

Sorry but my sons interviewed with viterbi and liberal arts. So i won’t be much help but I do know that Marshall likes it if you have a minor in another school besides business. Hopefully someone else can add more about the interview questions.

Hi, I also just had an interview for Marshall yesterday, and I think I pretty much messed it up… Would it affect my chance of getting in critically…? huah

Where there some challenging questions mellow Erica?

Im not sure that the interview can hurt you a lot, but i think that it CAN help. How did the Marshall interview go overall (types of questions, person who interviewed you, etc.) and were there any questions that you found hard to answer?

Well, the “start” was fine. The first question that she asked me was “how many AP courses are you taking?” Since I’m taking 6 IB courses, I just told her that. So the story went on well about my leadership experiences and stuff. But then, she asked me “if you have enough power to change a problem, what would you change among problems that people have in your community or world?” My head was like blank… Since I’m Korean, I started to talk about how North Korea attacked South Korea. But then the conversation got intense which I had no idea about… I didn’t know how to properly answer whether South Korea and North Korea would have a war or not… And she also asked me about this Free Trade Association thing between USA and South Korea that I wasn’t fully aware of… So I just "bs"ed my answer… I’m sure that she thought I was a stupid girl. huah This is so sad ;(

Oh, by the way, actually the first question that she asked me was “did you bring your resume?” So, whoever didn’t have an interview yet, don’t forget to bring your resume! Thankfully, I brought one. Anyway, yeah… that’s how mine went.

i just got an email saying “Tiffiani Frye, Kelley Chung, and Margeaux Witte will be meeting you.” O_O
does that mean I have 3 interviewers ???

What is the resume supposed to look like?

Anymore advice for the interview? Potential questions? I have mine tomorrow and I’m super anxious! USC is my top top top choice and I’m not the most competitive applicant so I hope the interview will be a big help for my app :)

krfan1993: you’ll likely get one of the three unless your slot’s not totally booked.

BigD77: You can google sample resumes. School basics, awards, work, honors, special interests … let them keep a snapshot of who they just interviewed.

MA2100: Show a passion for USC! How will you be an asset to the institution? It’s a two-sided interview. Come prepared with any questions you may have about USC.

Mine was today and it was easily the worst college interview I have had so far… I was interviewing for the IR global Business for marshall major… first question for me was what was your best complement you have received… I froze for a while but I did answer… my other answers for the other questions were really choppy because I was so nervous and my interviewer was nowhere near calm or pleasant… she was more like a CIA agent performing an interrogation…it was horrible…

was it Tiffiani Frye?
She interviewed me, and I thought it went pretty well in my book.

It was Lauren Hohman

Just a note, kids: USC admissions looks in on College Confidential on occasion - they have mentioned it at Explore sessions and there is one admission person who has a College Confidential account - he posted information about the Part 1 deadline extension last October.

By posting the date of your interview, your interviewer’s name, and some details about the interview, you have pretty clearly identified yourself. I would caution not to post negative comments about your interviewer. You might try using the “Report Problem” tab on that post to request that the moderators remove the identifying information, the negative comments and/or the interviewer’s name.

For others, remember that things you post here cannot be changed after about 15 minutes, so be sure to consider your privacy before posting.

spt.leonidas if you don’t mind me asking, how long did your interview last?

Mine was approximately 35 minutes or so

strange…
mine was that long too O_O
