USC Journalism

How is USC's journalims program? Is it one of the best in the country?

There are a lot of great schools to choose from as a Journalism major. My son will be coming to USC as a freshmen with USC’s Annenberg School of Journalism. He was accepted to several other schools including Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Journalism.

USC is a great program if you want to get hands on experience right away and build an impresssive resume for getting hired right out of undergrad.

They produce a news broadcast on Annenberg TV every Monday-Thursday with News, Weather and Sports. The broadcasters switch every day so that it gives more students an opportunity to be infront of the camera. Each broadcast also has broadcasters out in the field and they have the capability of doing live feeds.

Also students produce and edit all the broadcasts with industry standard equipment and software making a graduate of Annenberg ready to hit the ground running in their broadcasting career.

The other major advantage to USC is that it is located in a prime market. For example ESPN and Fox both have local Los Angeles studios making it great for students interested in Sports Journalism like my son. Being in a major market also makes internships more readily available.
