I will appreciate your response!
Muchas Gracias!

Your performance in actual Marshall pre-requisites is EXCELLENT (4.0). I think they will focus a bit more on that for you.

That being said, Leventhal is crazy competitive, but you are also a strong applicant. I guess it all depends on what type of competition you're up against! :)

Q: What is Mixtec exactly?

Mixtec is an Ancient pre-columbian civilization like Aztecs and Maya.

By the way, we are not at all the people depicted in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto. lol!

ouch at rejected list
do you know why you got rejected from those schools? :(

Womanoftroy - but the admissions are for Marshall and not Leventhal right?

Correct. First you must be admitted to Marshall.

Interesting... I don't even know what kind I am, lol.
p.s. Gosh, Mel Gibson movies= what a drag.

Woman.Of.Troy are you Mesoamerican?

My mother is Mexican and my father is from El Salvador. :)

kmzizzle - I have no idea for some but for Berkeley I called them and they told me that my two English courses did not meet the English pre-requsitie course so I was considered ineligible for review. For UVA, the adcom told me that I was indeed a strong applicant given the no. of credits I took each semester but she said that due to the limited amount of spaces they were not able to consider me. What is so disheartening is that none of these schools even considered waitlisting me. Therefore, those are absolute rejections!
I will enquire about the others soon.

Ouch. :(

10 char

Woman.Of.Troy - Your mother is Mexican, your father is Salvadorian and you are the Woman of Troy. Interesting combination (lol!)

Did you ever ask your mother or your father, where they originate from? Remember, being Mexican or El Salvadorian doesn't mean you are a Mesoamerican because we have the Spanish too. So are you Mesoamerican or Spanish?

I know my grandmother's father was mulatto married to a spanish woman (my great great grandmother?). It makes sense I suposse bc my grandma was older when she had my mom.

Yeah, I don't put much weight in any of the details. I feel like I'm everything & nothing lol. After I took a couple of Chicano Studies classes, I was really amazed though.

Woman.Of.Troy - How would you rate my chances at Marshall aka Leventhal in percentage?

Well cross-breeding between Mesoamericans and Spanish has been prevalent in the last few centuries but my grandfather told me that we are pure Mixtecs and I shouldn't marry a non-Mesoamerican. lol!

LOL. Of course, a Mixtec will be hard to come across in the U.S.

Marshall, pretty good I would say. I don't know if you read but a la idioteque mentioned an experience where a student at her CCC spoke to the Und. Admissions Director w/ a 3.88 GPA he said that if Marshall pre-reqs weren't all completed with A's to forget about it. Sounds a bit harsh to me, but you did great in that portion.

Leventhal has a dismal acceptance rate. Someone posted exact admit tables in the bigger USC thread but its probably at least 50 pages back. :/

lol I'm pretty sure many have been admitted without getting all A's on pre-reqs
That Und Admission Director must have been having bad day or something

kmizzle - I agree with you. there must be some other reason why that counselor instructed the person no to apply.

kmizzle - do u know some of their pre-req grades? I am wondering my change of getting in.

what do u mean USC's pre-req grades? :O like the cutoff GPA or something?

The grades of those four req for Marshall.

I think maybe he was just a bit mean or was trying to scare everyone, but he crushed that girls hopes and dreams in less than a second. I was concerned about my part-time status so I asked him about it, he wasn't very positive. I asked about re-applying if for some reason I didn't get in and he said, "I should try, but don't bother trying a 3rd time". I think he was just trying to weed out the people who are just "considering" USC. You know, if I were an admissions officer I would do the same thing. Imagine reading a bunch extra applications of people you knew wouldn't attend because they applied on a "whim" haha.
