USC monitors CC

I don't understand why people are connecting scholarship prospects with admissions prospects... What does the no scholarship letter have to do with being borderline or not? It just means that you are not getting trustee/presidential scholarship consideration. As for your admissions decision, it does not mean anything. If you're worried about your admissions chances, wait till you get your decision letter (by April 1). If you're worried about scholarship chances, the no scholarship letter pretty much covers that. Be patient and relax! :D

(What does this have to do with the topic of the thread anyway?)

EDIT: haha i just read a post and sfgiants already said this. oh well, i'm just confirming it :D!

by the way, the no scholarship letter is not an official midyear request SAYS ONE, yes and i would like to stress ONE, person i called.

they all give me different answers sooo yeah.

my usc id and pretty much all my other college stuff is my first+last name. i use postalxservice when i don't want to reveal my identification. haha the reason i use it is because i created many accounts when i was like 14 using this name and it's the only non name one i can actually remember..

"(What does this have to do with the topic of the thread anyway?)"

Because we want the spy from USC admissions who monitors this forum to answer some of our questions!

Some of you may have missed our conversation in another thread where we discussed why some got one letter (no-scholarship letter) and some got two (mid-year grades request letter.) We speculated that it could have something to do with being borderline. That's why we connected the no-scholarship letter to admissions prospects.

will someone explain to me why certain people get nothing even though they applied before the scholarship deadline? :(

people....like... me.

it's driving me crazy. i've pretty much come to terms with it though..

i've been rejected.

honestly postal,

looking at ur stats, u're pobably already in

you're above average in almost everything

no :( i don't believe so. i have horrible luck and i don't see how that's going to change for colleges...

my friend got like 2300 on his sats, was in the 1st decile in my school, above 750 on all his sat's, did track and cross country, had clubs, worked a job, etc. and got rejected :|.

What my mantra is on CC is that you can't worry until you have that official acceptance/rejection in your hand/eyesight on the net. Nobody can tell you that you can or can't get it. It's all in the hands of the adcom. I'm trying to hope for the best now for a UC. Time goes by faster when you think positively. As for me, I have 5 more weeks. That's maybe the same for USC.

how many AP's and Honors have you taken?

19 or 20 ish?

19/20 different courses. i'm not counting like ap/ib english 4 two times just because it's two semesters. lol.

yeah i've been trying to just not think about it. i mean, there's nothing we can do about it now. what's gonna happen is gonna happen, whether we figure out a pattern to the admissions process or not. lol.

ok, back to the one letter with no scholarship and MY grades request, and how that isn't an "official" request for Mid year grades: so are you saying you wouldn't send them in in that case, unless they were stellar?
if you are in that situation, you might want to check your My Gateway...my d received this letter(one), AND on My Gateway it also showed that she needed to send in Mid year grades. If it wasn't "official" in the letter, why does it also show on My Gateway?

hm. i guess it is official then. those people sure do lie. honestly i get a different answer EVERY SINGLE time i call in so i don't know what to believe anymore..

I was kind of surprised by that detail, too.

Hm, I got the letter, but nothing shows up on my Gateway checklist...

random q...what does "adcom" stand for???
please don't think i'm a complete retard :)

admissions committee... don't worry, it took me a long time to figure it out

lol, thx cowtippa ;)

"USC monitors CC"

LOL - the first post is hilarious! At the session, they mentioned it only in passing, saying something along the lines of "We read Princeton Review, College Board ... [5 names later] ... and College Confidential." And yeah, it's only to determine people's perception of USC and the stress level generated by the application process.

'Stress level generated by the application process'??

Well if it wasn't stressful I wouldn't BE on CC asking all sorts of questions that I need answered ASAP.

That said, dear USC: PLEASE LET ME IN

They're probably sitting there laughing at us for thinking that a new wave of letters was sent out today.
