…Still waiting on housing…

Just got my acceptance! I’m so excited to meet you all

I haven’t received my financial aide package yet but does anyone know if the financial aide gift is automatically renewable for my entire stay at USC?

Anyone know which dorms are recommended/ full at the moment? Also how does the room mate search work? Where can I view the profiles of potential room mates?

Hey so my intent to enroll just showed up on USConnect today. When I click on it there is a big “Thank You” and below that it says “This site is not open to public access”. Is this because it just showed up but I am not able to fill it out yet because I haven’t received a package? My STARS report was just filled out yesterday and I am hoping for a package in the mail today or Monday(I live within 25 mins of USC).

Hey guys,

After being SGR’ed I recently found out that I got into USC Marshall, so I had a few questions. First, does anyone know exactly when tuition for fall 2014 is due? Also, I am in the process of filling out the housing app, so does anyone have any suggestions for good housing for transfers? I would prefer to live on campus, but if I can’t I would obviously do off campus. Its sort of confusing with all of the different options for housing on the application. I would appreciate some feedback :)

@nickkwooddd The Welcome to USC booklet you get with your acceptance package has the dates for tuition.

I know there was a post a little while back stating it took a week for someone to get their financial aid after being accepted. Anybody have a similar experience or maybe faster? just trying to figure out how long it’s going to take.

@guywhoflys I got an email in less than a week, after i was accepted, saying something like my financial aid was complete. Then I checked connect, and it was updated on there

@5nonnegotiables okay sounds good i’ll be looking out for that email

I got admitted May 27th and I have yet to see my financial aid. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I read about similar experiences, I hope you hear back soon.

My financial aid came through today and it completely sucks. I didn’t even get work study, which I qualify for, definitely…there has to be a mistake in it. I think My parents and I are going to visit USC to show then the papers and stuff. Also there’s a message at the bottom saying an enrollment verification for my other brother in college may be requested…does this mean it’s not yet included in the aid? Because if so that’d make more sense

@natalie41 Our of curiousity is your EFC really high? I’ve been hearing crummy FA packages from some transfers This makes me wonder if there is any FA awards left for transfers which doesn’t make sense to me because USC’s endowment is much larger than many other schools.

I just talked to financial aid and they told me about the sibling enrollment verification is only important if the sibling enrollment changed over the year (like full time to part time) and that they already considered that I have 2 siblings in college already. It wouldn’t hurt to appeal though.

@StevieWin My EFC is literally 260…last year it was 0…but on USC’s EFC it’s way high. Which is weird

i’m scared to see what my financial aid package will be… I was “selected” to verify my info and had to upload a lot of additional forms for USC

@Bennyisbanksy that happened to me too. It also happened to a friend of mine and she got super good aid so I don’t think that means anything

@Bennyisbanksy @natalie41 USC uses CSS Profile, not FAFSA. This means that not only do they take into account your/your parents’ income, they also look at assets including home equity, retirement, etc.

If your EFC is high but your income is low, ask yourself: How many years do I/my parents have left to pay off my/their house? How many long-term liabilities do I have?

well it turned out my package sucks ass. im so scared for how much I have to borrow in loans!!! ive been up all night looking up these different kinds of loans and I feel like crying , I feel like i’m already in debt! the average student debt for a graduate from college is like 20,000 from a public college? I would have to take out $28,000 in loans!! for one year!!! I just don’t know if its worth it… and USC is my dream school! but i’m tempted to defer for one year and apply to public universities this fall and see what my options are in spring acceptances and work full time for a year to save up. my parents income is around 60,000 yearly but my dad makes a bit of $ on the side from rent from 2 houses he owns. but I think its crazy to expect them to help out so much!! idk what to do anybody in a similar situation?
