Essays are looking good. I have some decent reviews already.
Counselor Rec/Teacher Recs will probably be OK at best. The counselor doesn't know anyone that well because the school is way too big. The teachers like me.

Some freelance work experience as an online advertiser/internet marketer. Made some money that I put towards school and summer classes. ( I ended up getting a B in the summer class because it was too fast. Also, I spent a lot of time doing the internet work during the summer so that I could pay for the summer class ~$500 which sort of took up my studying time. I might mention that in my EC essay for UC's)

I would say that USC is a low reach. You may get in or may not, but your GPA looks good and so does your ACT! I would make sure you kill the essays I think your essay topic that you mentioned seems like a good idea. Talk about what you learned about working to pay for an academic class that furthered your learning experience. Good luck!!

Thank you! I’m really working on my essays because what you said is pretty much the case for all the schools i want to go to. Hopefully the engineering school isn’t harder to get into though.

I think you have a fair shot at all those schools. The only thing that might hurt you the having only “ok” teacher/counselor recs, but if you write excellent essays then you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

USC is just so selective that it’s pretty much a reach for anyone, but I’d say a low reach maybe high match for you. You’re definitely a competitive applicant. Good luck!

@engineering2015 Haha I expected as much. Thanks! I chanced back. I see that you’re also interested in engineering, why not aim for a top school? Your stats seem to be in order.

Viterbi’s probably a low reach. Your UW GPA is great, but your W GPA is only .2 higher which may call into question the rigor of your course load. You have good ACT/AP/SAT Chem scores, but need to bring up that Math Lvl 2 score to be a serious candidate. You also have good extracurriculars, so make sure your essays are fantastic, and you’ll be set. Good luck!

@2019hopeful Thanks! Yeah it’s true, my course rigor is crappy LOL. I should have taken more AP classes but I suppose it’s a bit late for that. I retook the math 2 but I didn’t get it that far up and only got a 730 I think I have essays down, but we’ll have to see. Thank you and please let me know if you need a chance back.
