USC said I shouldn't worry...

Ok, so I'm applying as a transfer (but I was admitted last year, still had to apply again though) and when I talked to the person on the phone to find out if they had everything the lady said yes. I asked if a decision would be made soon and she said it was still under review but then told me I "shouldn't really worry about it." What does that mean? Do they say that to everyone or is there a chance my application has been reviewed already? Does being admitted last year help my chances? I want to go so badly... :-S

Try not to read too much into anything. The person on the phone isn't an adcom, he/she's just the person on the phone.

Patience is key.

It means you "really shouldn't worry about it." What part of that don't you understand? Do you honestly believe that whoever you called at USC knows who you are and has seen you're application? Come on think for a second here... There is a reason they have something called "notifying you if you got in or didn't get in" or "notifying you if they are missing something in you're application". In case you didn't know... schools notify you if you got in or not!!! They also notify you if they are missing anything!! They do this so they don't get annoying people like you calling them asking stupid questions.

err, wow, doughboy, that was a ridiculous overreaction and way more rude than any question could have been stupid

and kaitylin, i don't know, if you gave her your info so she could check to make sure if your stuff was all in, then she could know. that is not a normal thing for a person on the other end of the phone to say. good luck!

Oh pardon me for pointing out what that lady at USC was most likely thinking when she got that call. I'm sure USC gets tons of calls just like that... "Hey I havent heard from you guys yet.... did I get in?" "I'm pretty sure I sent everything, however I just want to quadruple check that I did and so I'm calling you to make sure!" What USC and all colleges should do is not respond to anyones calls until they release ALL notifications to applicants of weather they got in or not. That will definitly drone down the many "I haven't heard from so and so school... does that mean I got rejected" posts.

Honestly, I feel pretty certain that she was just telling you not to stress out about when the decision will arrive, because there's nothing that you can do about until then, and they don't want people to keep calling them to check in on the process every week or so. They sent out letters about 4-6 weeks ago or so if you didn't have all of your materials in.

Don't read too much into it, and just try to relax about the whole thing. You've sent everything in, they have it all, so it's out of your hands now. Trying to find meaning in off-hand comments is just going to make you more anxious.

You're overreacting. End of story.

probably doesn't mean anything...they get lots of calls of anxious students and have been taught to say the same thing to them all...

Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that "[you] shouldn't worry about it" turns into a post asking if there's any deeper meaning?

... I would second random1345.
