USC Soph transfer?

Accidentally posted this in the wrong section but

I’ve been thinking about applying to USC as a sophomore transfer lately but I’m not sure if I’m wasting my time / $70. I’m currently a Com Sci major, if I apply as a Soph do I need to have all of Com Sci math requirements done like the Calc 1,2,3 etc completed?

I currently have a 4.0 UC Transferable GPA with about 29 Units taken.

However I might take a W in Precal this semester and just retake it in the Winter (will be my first W, and I’m not at risk of failing I just don’t want to take a C). Which means I’ll barely be in Calc 1 in the spring. Is there any point in me applying?

no.

@CornellAEMplease thanks for reply with such a great explanation and reasoning, it’s appreciated.

@Twenmi You sat here. Complained. Said you don’t meet requirements. Never gave an explanation on why they should accept you.

If USC is your goal, change majors. Meet the requirements.

There thousands of kids out there applying. All of them meet requirements. You don’t. You will be declined. It’s simple.

Just trying to help ya.

@CornellAEMplease First off all, I never complained, I just stated that your reply was a poor one. And yes I realize plenty of people will apply that meet the requirements, but the requirements that I listed are what is expected for a Junior transfer. I am asking, what is required/expected for a Sophomore transfer, I would assume it would not be the same as what is expected from a Junior transfer/

@Twenmi look up USC articulation agreement

@Twenmi They want to see that you have completed Calculus 1 successfully. If you take Calculus 1 in the spring, they will ask for your Spring semester grades before they make a decision. Both sophomore and junior transfers need to take Calculus 1, it is not only a major requirement but a basic requirement that everyone needs to complete. You don’t need to finish Calc 2 and Calc 3, but it does make you a much stronger candidate. You can also apply as undecided or a pick related major with fewer requirements and switch into Comp Sci after you get into USC. Hope that helps!

I had a similar question. I’m applying as a Chemistry major with a 3.76 (should be around 3.85 by the end of fall). I’m gonna get an A in General chemistry 1 and I’m taking general Chem 2 during the spring semester. I’m also planning on taking calculus 1 for the first time during spring. I’ve finished 3 or 4 of the GE sections and will have another finished by next semester. Do I have a chance?

@masonn8 since you are above the average transfer 3.7 GPA, I think you have a pretty good chance.
