USC Sophomore Transfer Question

I'm currently attending my freshmen year at a CCC (De Anza specifically).
I plan to apply to transfer to USC for my sophomore year.
I have a few questions though; the deadline for USC transfer applicants is February 1st.
De Anza goes on a quarter system so the only grades I would be able to send in is my fall quarter grades.

What else would USC base my decision on? Would they wait for me to attain my other grades (Winter and spring)? Would they use my High School grades / SAT? What if my De Anza GPA for fall quarter was above a 3.6+ but my HS GPA was only like a 3.1 with a 1800ish SAT, will my HS grades bring down my accomplishments in De Anza?

Thank you in advance
P.S. plan yo transfer as an Econ major!

Bump. Anybody out there?

Hi CA510,

According to the USC website, if you have fewer than 30 transferable semester units, your high school record and SAT/ACT scores will be the primary consideration for transfer admissions. You should download the Transferring to USC booklet from the website as well investigate the articulation of your CC credits.

You can find the Transferring Booklet here:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1213/TransferringToUSC_2012.pdf

You can find the Transfer Planning Guide and investigate articulation agreements here: [USC ARR : Articulation](Transfer Credit Services - Office of Academic Records and Registrar)

There is a wealth on information easily available on the USC website with a little searching-- have some fun and look around.

Best of luck to you

My son is a sophomore transfer this year from a well regarded East Coast school. He sent in his first semester grades, which were very good. In may, USC requested his second semester grades, which continued to be strong, and admitted him. So, if they are interested in you and want to see more, they will ask. I would also send your 2nd and 3rd quarter grades as they become available. Good luck!

@chillin5 did they take your son’s high school resume into account during the deliberations process?
