USC Status Update

^ where do we check this?

Question…Any of you mind sharing stats who got the forward message? I did, but I don’t know if it’s a good or bad sign.

Nvm I found it, i’m “Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.” and have been for quite awhile

My S just got the “being reviewed by the admission committee…beginning April 11th” one in the past day or two. Before that it was the “preliminary review/check back” one. But he’s applied to Thornton and still has to audition.

NMF will not hear early just by virtue of being NMF. Very often, however, NMF are among the very qualified applicants who are invited for scholarship interviews. Regardless of when you hear about your admission (which may be anytime between now and April 1st), NMF who are accepted and name USC as their first-choice school are awarded the NMF 1/2 tuition Presidential Scholarship.

Mine has now changed to:

You think this is good news or bad?

My S’s status is still the same too. ^as the above^
He has applied to Thornton and awaits audition information. In Dec. the admissions interviewer told him that he would be contacted at the end of January for a audition (interview) for music composition. He is a NMSF, great stats- top 99+% SAT scores, great essay, APS all w/ 5’s, several college classes, national composition awards, regional math awards, science bowl… etc., great recommendations, lots of community service, top summer camps. BUT he is homeschooled and this may play into the decision.

Mine has had the April 1st/April 11th message since well before Xmas and has not ever changed. I applied in October, if that makes any difference. The suspense is killing me and trying to read anything into these status messages isn’t helping… arrgghhhh!

oh my gosh, Lightja, that freaked me out so much, you have no idea. I keep forgetting that it’s 2010 now, and I was like, how do all of these people know already? Why don’t I know? And then I remembered that it’s only January 23 today.

So I could know as soon as Tuesday? Holy…

Also, with the new Mac-compatible USConnect, I cannot click anything in the admission tab. GRR.

That’s why you don’t use the USConnect website. Just go directly to the camel2 website.

yeah I got there on Firefox. No change in status. :/

^wisdomsomehow SHIFT+command+K. The stuff pops open in new windows. Pain in the butt, but I was wondering the same thing the other day until I tried it out at school on IE and realized that the pop-up blocker prevents anything from opening.

So it’s saturday, same day decisions arrived to students in southern california last year, and my mail man came by already and nothing from USC. Anybody receive anything?

Your mail man comes that early in the morning? We don’t even get our mail until 2:00 at the earliest.

nobody got their decision til the 24th (postmarked 23rd), and I think the 23rd was on a friday last year, and not sure if they work weekends. I think the first wave will hit next saturday to be honest.

I read somewhere else that the first ones to go in the mail are for LA applicants, for whatever reasons (keep the natives happy??) Our mail (we’re in LA county) doesn’t arrive for a few hours.

LA > the rest

Yes! my mail man comes by at 9:30. :p

My guess is they start sending them off Monday.

LA area here…nothing :O
