USC Status Update

So I got home today and saw the mail on the counter. I got excited when I saw the USC logo on a piece of mail. However, when I pulled it out of the stack, my hopes fell when I saw that it was just a postcard reminding me about financial aid deadlines…

Damn.

^ Hahaha I did that too. My heart raced for a second when I saw the USC logo in the mail.
STOP TOYING WITH ME USC

Haha I did the same thing.

kenhivus, that’s the default message.

@Lightja - they could just be messing with us. Or it could be alphabetized (haven’t seen anyone with lastname after S get it changed). Historically though, there has been some odd nut signifance. But people are right; only time will tell.

Wow! I was almost certain that some of the California applicants would have received acceptance letters in the mail today. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming days and please post your stats when you find out.

Wow same here ^^ I saw USC and nearly passed out until my mom told me it was just a reminder :p

My S got the USC post card regarding financial aid last Thursday.

Some CA applicants may not yet have been home to check their mailboxes. It’s not even 4:30 here yet.

I live in SoCal (though not LA) and my mail came a few hours ago…Nothing. :-/

Well, nothing in the mail from USC today–I got the fin aid postcard Thursday too. I’m norcal though.

Apparently we the midwest or east coast folks did not get anything from USC today :-). We let you the CA residents be our brave frontier foot soldiers, and we will share your joy and excitement. We will cheer for you! Then we start to worry about ourselves (lol).

Good luck to all CA applicants!

Yay, fellow midwesterner. :)

I live about 2 hours away from USC!

I got the postcard on Saturday. You know, Jan 23. All my mom said was that “there’s something from USC.” And then it was just a FAFSA reminder. :/

East coast… won’t find out for 2 days after the LA folks… dang it! :P

I’m in AZ, so I’m about a day later than the LA folks.

Anyone know anything about how the waves of regular decision work?
Like, are the highest qualified applicants notified within the first few waves and then the applicant pool narrows down from there?

So basically, if I’m not in the first few waves, should I be worried?

I heard but I am not sure they roll out the acceptance letters first then rejection.

In past years once the early admits were mailed out it appeared letters of admission were sent out from the various schools. For example, the engineering majors might receive letters and the following week the public policy majors.

SC is a private university. The admissions committee members could change their policies about dates according to their own schedule. It is difficult for me to imagine sifting through 35,000+ applicant packets.

35000+ applications last year WOW!

Wow. That is a LOT of applications.
When can an Undecided major expect a letter? (Or a package, because that is definitely what I’m hoping for!)

i am not sure, but wonder if certain school send out acceptance letters first then to the students who have applied as undeclared?

MidwestDad2 says his son has the “acted on” status I mentioned a few pages back. Two years ago, that meant a package was on the way.
