USC Thornton Music Industry major

I tried asking this on USC's forum--but JazzSmom suggested I try here among the experts!

A question for a friend: the student has applied to the BM Music Industry major as a freshman for fall, 2011. Does anyone here have info on the admission path for this major?

This degree (BM) includes performance and requires a prescreen taped audition submission. If someone here is familiar with the admission process for MI BM, is there typically an in-person audition? There are prescreen, then live auditions for other performance majors at Thornton, but the family has questions about this particular path. I said I'd ask here on cc!

Thanks so much in advance.

I’ve applied for this program. Yes, there is a prescreen. I was required, as a jazz vocalist, to submit a DVD of me singing It Could Happen to You, Body and Soul, and jazz song of my choosing by December 1st. I passed my prescreening and they invited me by e-mail to perform a live audition, in which they wanted me to perform two specific songs (different ones) and one jazz standard of choice that was different from my prescreen. They invited me to audition live in late December, and my audition is tomorrow. I don’t know whether or not they send out e-mails to students who didn’t pass the prescreen. I hope this helps.
