<p>Hi I was wondering which professors were good at USC for piano performance and how many transfer students do they usually take for the fall semester? Is it harder to get in as a transfer student than as a freshman?</p>

<p>three possibilities: John Perry, Antoinette Perry, Daniel Pollack.
John Perry is probably not really available for the undergrads -- he also is the sole piano professor at Colburn.</p>

<p>All teachers are great here. Remember, it's not important WHERE you are, but what you DO. I don't think it really matters whether you're transferring or new. They just want a good performer.</p>

<p>it would be more helpful to say why you disagree or give some positive suggestions...hard to see how it could be negative to study with someone as prominent as John Perry though.</p>

<p>I was just saying that I disagree to those three (or anyone else for that matter) being labeled as the best. All teachers are good-- and they're all different. I never said anything negative about Mr. Perry.</p>

<p>There are more choices than three teachers: In fact, there are 8 who teach undergraduate piano performance majors. (excluding Mr. Perry, he is no longer around much.)

<p>3 possibilities was not meant to exclude anyone else -- I've heard good things about those three and know nothing about the others. John Perry is one of the best-reputed piano teachers in the U.S. He is now at Colburn, though, and had been teaching mostly graduate students at USC.</p>

<pre><code>As a Fulbright Fellow she concertized extensively throughout Europe. She has performed as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Musica Angelica, Capella Salisburgensis and Manhattan Philharmonic. Frequently took dual role as soloist/conductor in Mozart piano concerti with the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra. Performed at various music festivals as featured soloist including Carmel Bach Festival and Prince George Music Festival. Her performances have been broadcast across the U.S. on NPR.
Active in in both the symphonic and operatic arenas, she has been proclaimed by Bernard Holland of the N.Y. Times "a find....a first-rate conductor". She was music director and conductor of the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra from 92 to 01.
Ms. Carver earned her doctor of musical arts from USC Thornton, an Artist Diploma from the Salzbrug "Mozarteum" and a master of music from the Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers include pianists Murray Perahia, Gary Graffman and John Perry.

<p>Does anyone know how many USC piano performance teachers take graduate students? </p>

<p>Also, what are you guy’s thoughts on USC and UCLA, level wise/opportunities etc. Not sure hwich is the best choice for MM piano performance.

<p>I may be wrong. D informed me last week that USC let go of John Perry. Can someone from USC confirm this.</p>
