USC Transfer 2014 Appeal

@erickmorales thanks! I wrote my letter I’m just attempting a cover letter now lol. I hope you do hear from him soon, but if not I don’t think its out of the question to bug him a little ;)

I got my rejection letter May 31st and am planning to summit my appeal letter this Sunday, do you guys think this is too late? Also, how long are your appeal letters?

@Jazz49‌ I would keep it within a 1 to 2 weeks time frame from when you got rejected. I wouldn’t wait any longer than that because they might forget you :frowning: or spaces could fill up. I’m still working on my appeal letter, but I think it’s going to be 2 pages max.

I sent my appeal in to my counselor and this is the automatic message I got back “Thank you for your message. I will be away from the office on university business from Friday June 6th until Wednesday June 11th. I will have limited access to email and voicemail. For immediate asssitance please call 213-740-1111.”

Nooooooo!! I knew I should have sent it before!!

@ilovestemcells‌ Hold your horses there, just wait until the 12th to send it then or just call admissions tomorrow. If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t even finished my essay (most likely Monday or Tuesday). We only have one shot left so I’m not trying to rush things.

Thanks @MarshallBound‌. I actually called the admissions office on Friday and the lady recommended the appeal be one page long. She also said that there is no “official” appeal process for transfers, so there is no specific date transfers will hear back once they submit their appeals. Though she did recommend emailing your counselor if you haven’t heard anything after a few weeks of submitting your appeal.

@Jazz49‌ Oh boy. I don’t know how i am going to shorten my two page appeal essay now. Looks like shrinking the font size it is :D.
Thanks for that info.

No prob @Marshallbound, though I am sure if yours is a bit longer it wont be a deal breaker, it really all comes down to the content. Also, for anyone who is reading this thread, the women I spoke to in the admissions office recommended there be no letters of recommendation or any other supplementary material with your appeal, just the appeal letter.

@MarshallBound I already sent it and that’s the message I got back lol. I guess I will just wait and see what happens

@Jazz49 thanks for the new info. Anything is helpful!

my counselor got back to me and said I will find out as soon as possible by the end of summer. “As soon as possible” and “end of summer” is a large gap  But I can wait if its another chance to still get accepted

@ilovestemcells‌ It’s good that you got a response! Though if you are accepted to fall quarter and they don’t notify you until the end of summer that does not leave you much time. I wonder if most applicants who appeal get admitted for spring?

@Jazz49 ya I was thinking the same thing. I mean its probably very unlikely I will get in, but I’m thinking since appeals are probably looked at last if there is space it would probably only be in spring. But I don’t know, I don’t know anyone who has done a successful appeal. And you never got a response? Did you try contacting your counselor again? My counselor has always been pretty good at contacting me back.

Hopefully, I will finish my appeal by Tuesday. Been quite busy the past week. @ilovestemcells‌ Good luck on the appeal. @Jazz49‌ Have you submitted your appeal yet?

@ilovestemcells‌ and @MarshallBound I have yet to submit my appeal. I am editing it tonight and am hoping to get it emailed by tomorrow at the very latest. Ahh!!! It is like a week after I wanted it to be in by, but I work full time and have been crazy busy!

P.S: I am blowing the one page limit out of the water, my appeal is like 2 and a quarter pages. How about you guys? @ilovestemcells and @marshallbound

@Jazz49‌ I’m trying to finish mines tonight as well. I think @ilovestemcells‌ sent his/her appeal already.

@Jazz49 and @ MarshallBound ya I sent mine in already and mine was like 2 1/2 pages I think. I wouldn’t worry about turning it in now because apparently you might not hear anything back until the end of summer

Hi everyone!
I’m writing an appeal letter to USC and I have heard about the “new information” component to include in my case. Since applying, I have taken on two internships, have joined an academic association, and have also held 2 leadership roles. Would these new extracurriculars be considered new information, or is it strictly test scores and grades?

@Jazz49 and @MarshallBound My letter was about 2 1/2 pages and yes I already sent it in. I wouldn’t worry about sending it in later than you expected seeming as you might not even hear anything back until the end of summer.

Oh and I’m a girl btw! haha

I have read 4 years of USC appeals for both transfers and freshmen. The date we should all circle for us is July 15, 2014. I’m more than confident we would hear back on that date.
I’m putting all my faith in God for this one. God rose from the dead, and there’s nothing he can’t do. He made me write a very powerful appeal letter and I’m thankful to be in the appeal process. God is great! I thought I would be stressing like I was in the admission process, but I’m as patient as ever, even though I have no school to go to in the fall, since I finished what needs to be done at a community college.

I want to say God bless you all in this appeal journey!
