USC/UMich/UF/UW

I don't know much about your schools either, but you're probably in for all the schools you mentioned. Your stats are really great and you show an interest in something you love (journalism).
Good luck!

oh man, i hope i get in :T
thanks for the response!

bump.. please.

I'd say you're in, and uh, Go Gators!

Your ECs seem to be good.. and if any of those schools offer girls lacrosse you could play for them (its a newer NCAA sport).. helping ur application... i hope u also got recomendations from teachers- you are applying to university.. not for a job so they also need to know how u do in the classroom.. also i hope ur essay is VERY well written or else it will make ur other accomplishments seem less.. also ur dedication for the interview can also jsut be seen as you have the money to do that.. i mean not everyone is as priveledged and it shouldnt be counted against them... so i hope the interview went well.. however.. ur ACT score is low and unfortunately these tests DO count.. but i still think that u have a GOOD shot 50/50 or 60/40 in all of them.. except USC which is still a reach depending on the weight the legacy holds for you.. GOOD LUCK!

Got a rec from my Journalism teacher. And one of the recs from my internship actually visited me school and was a guest speaker. So he knows how I have to handle things in my Newspaper class. So he definitely commented on my leadership role.

I am considering playing lacrosse in college. It depends on the school. I am also adding to my application that I am a captain this year of my lacrosse team, which I would have been junior year if I didn't move to Florida. I think that that looks good that even though this is a new lacrosse team for me, I've stepped up to become a captain for my senior year.

My essay is very well-written, I believe, and so have others who have read it. If anyone is interested in reading it, let me know and I'll private message it.

Thanks for the comments!

Still haven't turned in my USC app! It's due the 10th!
Perfectionist, much?

Also, wondering.. do you think it would be a good idea to make a portfolio to send to my colleges? Like I could include pieces from my internship and my freelancing work as well as from my high school newspaper. How would I go about doing this? Do colleges look at this kind of stuff? What would be the best way to present this?

Please let me know ASAP!

i'm applying to Annenberg too, but for public relations & communications and have yet to send my application. perfectionist hmm procrastinator? haha well as for the portfolio, I suggest you send it to the journalism department because if they like what they see, they will head to admissions and tell them so. admissions already has sooooo much to read that they will probably overlook your other material, but the department might be more interested.

thank you; i'll send it there! haha, procrastinator is right. though i did finish it all by november, but i keep reading it over and over and over. i'm planning to send it in tonight though!

any last thoughts?

.............anyone

all my apps are in!!

Best of luck to you.

I won't chance you here, since I'm actually the one that suggested some of these schools to you. Here's hoping you get acceptances at all of them.

amen to that :)

some envelopes came:

accepted to the university of washington
deferred early action (not binding) to the university of miami

i am pretty worried that i got deferred. does anyone know the % of people who were accepted early action there!

UF decisions NEXT FRIDAY!!! So nervous!

Out of 20,000 applicants, there are 2,000 spaces in their freshman class. I must say, I'm surprised you didn't get in. I got in and although your test scores are a bit lower, your gpa is higher than mine. You never know these days...=/ Good luck with UF tho! Is UF your #2?

Lindsey: You could possibly be one of those rare few who are accepted to UMich and deferred at UMiami....I'm guessing it was your ACT score that held you back at Miami, which UMich doesn't seem to care about this year...Let us know how it goes......Good Luck with UF!

Thanks; hope ya'll are right!

You have above average ECs but probably the real noteworthy thing is your fundraising activity. I went to UF and was close to going to the U (Miami), I think you'll eventually get UM but UF might be a wager depending on the ACT score. What does 27 equate to SAT-wise? I think you should be okay with UF since your GPA and ECs are high enough.

A 27 on the ACT is equivalent to a 1220 on the SAT.
