So. I got into both USC and Syracuse and don't know what to do.
I got into Annenberg for USC (PR)
and Newhouse for SU. I also got into the Syracuse honors college.

I know USC is higher ranked overall, but it seems like SU may have a better comm. school?
Also, Syracuse has the major I am interested in, Advertising, where USC only has Public Relations. I'm not 100% on the major, but I really think I'd like to study Advertising more than PR, though both do overlap in some areas.
I'm from a sunny place so the weather in Syracuse may present a problem but I kind of want the change (Not sure if I'll think that once I'm there, but...).

I'm definitely conflicted because I went to Syracuse and really, really liked it. I could really see myself there. I did like USC, but not as much...maybe it's because I only took a tour of USC where I attended a whole accepted student day at SU? I also like the fact that with the SU honors, I'd be able to choose my classes earlier.

USC is closer to home and my sister's college, so more convenient, but once again, I think the change may be good for me.

There's also another big factor. I would have to come up with an additional $9,718 yearly to go to Syracuse.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything? I only have one week left and don't know what to do!

Syracuse is the better communications school without a doubt, it’s in the top 3 in the nation.

If money isn’t too big an issue, come to Cuse. I’ll be there with you in Newhouse, as I’m most likely choosing Syracuse as my school of choice.

USC is solid, so if money is an issue, take USC and don’t look back. But it really seems like you liked Syracuse more, and it is better for communications. Listen to your heart.

40K is too much of a difference in my book - Annenberg is not small potatoes.

Almost same situation here. Chose USC–seem to be a little more cutting edge with way journalism is evolving today (digital media). Closer to internships, great group of teachers (Peabody, Pulitzer winners. Small classes, great weather, great school spirit.

Syracuse actually just reformatted most of their majors last year and added a lot more adaptation, I’d say they’re still leagues ahead of USC’s program (no offense to lanimer).

But yea, USC definitely has better weather, and it’s a really great school. Can’t really go wrong with either Syracuse or USC.

To me it sounds like you really liked Syracuse. If money isn’t too big an issue, I think that’s your best bet.

Thanks, all of you. I think my heart wants SU, while my head says USC. And I think I need to go with my head on this one. SU is better program wise, but I dunno if it’s $40,000 better. You’re right, USC is a solid, and I think it’s the most logical decision for me at this point.
Thanks again!
