I’ve been accepted to USF, UF, UCF, & FSU. My major is Accounting.
I live in Tampa so I will be commuting to USF if I do go. A huge pro would be that I do not have to pay for room and board like I would have to at UF. Room and Board is around 6k + food and other living expenses it can add up to 9K. Bright Futures covers my tuition regardless of the university I chose.
Is UF overly rated? Is it worth paying the 6K-9K more for room & board to attend UF over USF?
I definitely think it’s worth the added expense to get your UF Accounting Degree. Ranked #12 in the country and pretty hard to beat free tuition and pretty reasonable room and board. Look for ways to keep costs down if that’s a concern - do your summer requirement close to home at USF, try to accelerate your degree with AP/DE if you have incoming credits, etc.
UF is one of the top universities, one of which I’m looking as a possible option, (the U is my #1), but UF it is not #12 in the country overall, but is #11 in accounting (check a lot different rankings) with a great accouning school. It is also great because it is a more well known university, so internships will be easier to get. Honestly though, if you are happy with both schools, choose the one you are most comfortable with, whether its dorms, class sizes, kr the attitude of students, because nothing is worse than choosing a school and being unhappy their, so just assure happiness for yourself.
11, #12, a few spots on these rankings really don't matter. :)
UF clearly has the best program. However, if you earn your BS and then your CPA at any of these schools, you’ll be successful. Make sure you research CPA requirements…

UF accounting has some brutal weed-out classes. Which I’m sure you can handle, of course. Just saying.
