UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

Hey everyone,

I applied as an external transfer for the upcoming spring semester,

have a 3.88 gpa, dual major in biology and philosophy,

Im the current president of the Biology club and have had other leadership positions in the past,
I am also hired by the university an SI Leader and tutor students in classes with high drop out, withdrawal and fail rates (essentially all of STEM)
Ive had well over a hundred hours put into a volunteer lab based based in neurology and am currently working for a lab focused on melanoma and its relation to certain mutations
I was part of a paid research internship in the summer for which i worked in the same melanoma cancer research lab
im also a licensed EMT and have a handful of volunteer hours in.

what im worried about is the fact that I dont have any letters of recommendation sent in as when I was trying to send the link to my professors who agreed and asked about it while in school, none of them received the email.

How much does not having a letter of recommendation weigh in on the admittance process.

@AdmiralK Past transfer threads have had a good amount of people get accepted with no letters of recommendations. I think as long as you’ve completed any prerequisites needed you have a good chance

Hi everyone. I have applied for transfer for COLA for Spring 2018 with a major in European Studies, can someone chance me please!!I am so nervous and would like to hear input on my chances

ACC student with 49 total credit hours with a 3.02 GPA
HOWEVER, if you factor out the classes that won’t count at UT I will have
37 credit hours with a gap of 3.43

I am part of PHI THETA KAPPA, I have over 30 hours of volunteer service, my essays were PHENOMENAL, and I have a great resume of leadership service. Please someone chance me! I would greatly appreciate it. btw my application has been in review for what seems like the first week in October, why is it taking so long?!?!

Mine has also been in review for a long time, I dont think they send out decisions until November.

Does anyone applying for Spring 2018 have an idea when decisions should be out?

I think they start coming out early November!

Thanks! Let’s all post acceptance dates so we can all celebrate together! Hook em!

Hi guys! My name is Dave and I’m currently a sophomore at UT with a major is Biochemistry (BSA). I remember how it was to apply to UT as a transfer student so I will be lurking around this thread helping anyone that needs anything. I check this thread every few hours so if anyone here needs any admissions “chance-me” advice or any other help in general about anything UT related, feel free to leave a message on this thread, or to contact me personally by private messaging me on College Confidential.

Best,

I am still in review. Has anyone gotten a decision yet?? Ive been in review since the first week in October. I am so nervous.

On UT’s admissions for transfer page at the very bottom it states that for regular transfers most of decisions will be given out early November and for international transfer students the decisions will be given out by around Mid-November. I applied around the start of September and been under review for about 3 weeks now so I am guessing by early November decisions will be given. Wish the best for everyone, I am nervous as well!

Don’t worry, you will all be fine. I remember I was nervous to but relax, November is only a few days away. Best to all of you.

Dave

Do you guys think I have a shot at transferring and getting into COLA majoring in European studies with a 3.43 gpa? I have phenomenal essays and an amazing resume/volunteer work. Im also apart of Phi theta Kappa. please let me know what you guys think, I’m going crazy, its all i think about.

Still in review but anticipating the best!

Does anyone know if we will get our decisions at the beginning of the month or the end? Previous threads people have gotten them towards the end, but this thread says beginning.

Has anyone gotten their admission decision yet? Im still in review. Ugh this is taking foreverrrrr

Hi, can someone please chance me? I’m getting impatient waiting for the admission decisions to come out!

I applied as a transfer for Spring 2018. My first choice is neuroscience in CNS and second choice is sociology in COLA. I have 39 hours completed right now and a GPA of 3.59 at Baylor University. By the end of this semester I’ll have 54 hours. No LORs but really solid resume and essays and lots of ECs.

Today, November 1st is when UT allegedly will start releasing admission decisions for Spring 2018 transfers and for international students normally around Mid November most should know their admission decision. Guessing this process will take course over all November but on their website they state that most of all decisions will have be given out by Mid November.
