UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

Now I can’t stop logging in. Wanting it to go in review!

Woah. Leave for 3 hours and come back to people freaking out over accidental “apply for orientation.” Thanks for making me 100x more stressed guys… jk

@colanxgirl saaameeee lol should’ve just registered. Maybe they would be like eh they’re registered for orientation. Might as well let them in!

@OGmandyV I tried but it didn’t let me. When I clicked the link to register it said that I needed to be an admitted student to register :((

Same @awesomesaucee I tried too!

@awesomesaucee Mine says, “Your file is in review” and everything’s been turned in. Im also an international student, and I was told that international students receive their decisions around mid April. So, Im hoping to get it next month.

Feel free to add me to the list! My app is still just showing “completed”.

Applied Freshman year to McCombs. Got CAP’d

ACT: 31
High School GPA: 3.9/4.0W
Race: Asian-American
Income: Lower middle class

Current Classification: Freshman
Current College: University of Houston
Current Major: Pre-Business

1st Choice Major: COLA Economics
2nd Choice Major: Pre-Business (I would have picked this first, but with my GPA I’m being real)
College GPA: 3.52 (ouch)
Credit hours: 32 (scholarship application says I have 25)

Extracurricular Activities:

  • Intern at well-connected Non-Profit Org (2017-2018)
  • Online Editor-in-Chief of Newspaper (HS)
  • Historian of Speech and Debate Team (HS)
  • Member of School Fundraiser Board (HS)
  • Morning News Anchor of School Broadcast Network (HS)
  • Member of Model UN (HS)
  • Officer of School Ambassador Team (HS)
  • Webmaster of Student Council (HS)

Essays:
Alright, I guess. Who am I to judge my own writing? But I’m told they’re both pretty good.

-My transition from believing a college degree could only benefit myself to realizing it can have a wider impact through my internship.
-Growing up being two religions and learning to live with both, and that eventually realizing that this experience taught me to be more open, accepting.

LORs:
1 from Accounting Professor (great)
1 from CEO of where I intern
1 from CFO of where I intern

Internship is very connected to UT. Connected enough that if I had less to lose, I would first-choice McCombs. But I don’t want to take that risk because of my GPA, and I just want to get to UT for now. So…outstanding ECs and LoRs?

Also, Kevin, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you know who I am. Hi

GL everyone!

@sean191297 Okay, that must be only for international students then. I think everyone else has their application just say “complete”.

@BluePinkerton I added you to the list

Does anyone know how many transfer applicants applied for the fall?

@Thompson2688 I think there’s a list somewhere for the forum

@Thompson2688 @stoppingtheworld I’m assuming you are talking about all fall transfers? Those numbers probably won’t be released until way after decisions are made.

If you are talking about just for this thread, I can post the current fall transfer list

@awesomesaucee I was wondering about the overall. I know when I talked to admissions last and asked they said they wouldn’t know until around the 15th of March. I was wondering if anyone had found out.

@awesomesaucee From my understanding transfer students applicants have been pretty static over the last couple of years and has not fluctuated upward like freshman admissions has.

@Thompson2688 I just looked at the past Common Data sets for transfer admission.

Fall 2016

8189 Applied : 3012 Accepted

** Fall 2015**

8197 Applied : 3499 Accepted

** Fall 2014 **

8515 Applied : 3059 Accepted

Unfortunately, they don’t have Fall 2017 transfer stats posted. If I had to guess, between 8000-8500 people applied

My portal is getting an error now.

“Your Status Check could not be conducted because of the following:
BrokerError: 00200094 (Broker error: API: Msg truncated to fit receive-buffer)”

Anyone else?

@awesomesaucee same here

Maybe they are finally going into review.

@colanxgirl Thank goodness. I was starting to get worried haha.

Maybe something on the portal is changing [-O<

Hey does ut release a transfer audit like tamu does?

@jumpo69 I think only after you have been admitted
