My son filed an appeal on February 26th and received notifcation that his appeal for admission was denied Wednesday night.
My sonâs appeal was approved today. He did have new information to offer that was not in the original application. He was an auto-admit who was denied admission into CS, appealed, then approved.
@TexArt congrats!! My daughter was auto-admit but got rejected from CS, so we are wanting to appeal. If you donât mind me asking, how did you format the appeal? We donât particularly have any new information to offer, so we are confused as to how to approach the appeal. Best of luck to your son!
He went over his application with a family friend who point out a number of things missing from his first application, and also a few errors he had made which could be confusing. He also updated it with mid-year transcripts which were higher than his end of year transcripts, putting him in top 5%. My best advice is to have an impartial 3rd party look over the application and see if there are any discrepancies or missing items.
@TexArt Great Job!! That is really amazing! If you donât mind, could you share your sonâs stats, as I would like to know where I stand. Also what discrepancies did you see in the application if you donât mind sharing? I just want to know how to best go from here. Thank you so much!
As a UT grad, husband is UT grad, brothers and sisters UT grads, nieces and nephews UT grads and a daughter that is a current UT sophomore, you can say my blood is burnt orange. Current HS senior was capped and then presented an appeal. No letter this time, simply an updateâŠâAPPEAL DENIEDâ This is very disappointing. Not that she was denied, but there was no acknowledgement of her desire to attend UT, no gratitude for her persistence and interest. Nada.
@2chicks Our family is exactly like yoursâŠgrads all aroundâŠmy husband, all of his brothers, my sister in law, cousins, grandfather, etc. My son has had no other dream but UT his whole life. He has been accepted at every other University he applied. He has received the highest academic scholarship offered by every other school, plus additional scholarships. Other school are recruiting him from an academic stand point, but the one school he loves says NOâŠtwice. We are heart broken!! He loves UT so much that he is now going out of state schoolâŠhe says he canât go to a school that roots against UT. We just canât wrap our minds around the fact he will not be at UT next year!
@AustinTx2022, I feel your pain. Mine wants to experience the whole 4 year college life so CAP was out of the question.
@2chicks Yes, CAP just didnât make sense for him either. Just trying to come terms with the reality! So hard!
@2chicks, I can relate. My grandmother, parents, uncle, aunt, etc. all went to UT, as did my sister and me.
My son, OOS, attended UT for a year before he fell ill and had to withdraw. There are NO other kids from the next generation who will be Longhorns. In 2013, my nephew had amazing ECs and high grades, but not good enough to be auto-admit. He appealed, too, and was also denied. He decided to turn down CAP and went to school out of state. I donât think he ever got over his disappointment (he passed away in 2015).
