I have a question if anyone might be able to answer it. So I finished my colleges applications before school started but since my senior year has started I’ve joined 2 honor societies and become a rotary scholar. I’m auto admit and my major is in liberal arts so I know those won’t really effect that decision, but I applied to the liberal arts honors program and I know these honors would look really good on my application. Is there any way I can “add” things to my application? I have already submitted a resume so I don’t know if there’s a way I can delete it and add a new one? I don’t really want to upload an additional resume because there’s no knowing which they’ll look at and it might aggravate the admissions counselors. I know I could appeal but I don’t know if that’s worth the hassle or time. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Should I just leave it and not worry about it?
@Jillian0203 If you feel these additional achievements might help, then go ahead and upload an updated resume. We did this on one of our daughter’s applications last year. She was accepted into that University with her chosen major. We had to do a corrected resume for our daughter this year, and we contacted admissions. They said to go ahead and upload it, and that they will only look at the one with the most recent date on it. Good luck!
@NotSoPatient Thank you! I’ll do that.
DS applied for aerospace engineering on 8/19 (non-auto admit). We are still waiting for his high school to send a transcript (I’m going crazy…). He will apply for housing after the application is complete. Congrats to everyone whose application is already finished. Now we begin the waiting game…
@wvhopeful Can you get the transcript from the HS and upload it yourself? I would request an official one, and then open the envelope and upload it. On the document upload page is an option to upload a HS transcript. We did it both last year and this year for our daughters.
@NotSoPatient I thought about that, but we’re a non-ranking high school, so I believe a school report needs to accompany the transcript. Do you know anything about how that works? Are you in TX or OOS? I’m starting to think maybe there’s a problem with the TREx (TX) system (at least on our HS end) because transcripts for the common app have all gone out, so not sure why there’s a delay for UT.
Does anyone know how quickly UT reflects the transcript in their system once received?
@wvhopeful If the common app transcripts have gone out, I’d call the school and ask about TREx. There is a chance it has been lost in the shuffle.
Thank you. I was able to confirm that it’s finally been sent! Now just waiting for UT reflect it in MyStatus.
My son’s counselor had to write a letter stating his rank since it is not on the transcript. Admissions accepted fax copy and now it is updated on his MyStatus.
Can you guys suggest an absolute-must-submit-your-app-by-even-for-auto-admits(that isn’t Dec. 1) date because I’m still pondering over topic C and fixing numerous teeny tiny grammatical errors for A and B. Cheers to all who had finished their essays over the summer!
@xrocker I believe the “priority deadline” is October 15th. It sounds like you’re really close to being ready to submit! Good luck!
@xrocker The “priority deadline” is October 15th. However, having been thru this process last year with my oldest daughter (now a Longhorn), I can say that I didn’t see her get any benefit from having submitted by 10/15 other than for housing as she got her first choice dorm and not having to worry about it over the Thanksgiving break.
I had a senior class meeting today and our head counselor said that Texas Tech was sending out some admissions decisions today and UT and A&M would be sent out within the next 2-3 days. I had heard from others though that these universities would start notifying in the next couple weeks, but typically starting around September 20th? Has anyone heard anything about them sending out decisions so soon or has anyone that also applied to Tech hear anything back today?
Interesting. I would really want to know the answer to that as well. My assumption was that UT starts notifying people around September 20 something.
I just looked on Twitter and I can confirm that some people have been accepted to Texas Tech today. It was through email
It would be my guess that they will start notifying students who are auto-admits that they are accepted to the university.
Decision on major & specific college will still be a good while off.
if they are accepting auto admits right now, why set the deadline of Dec 1?
Because if they don’t have a deadline of December 1, they don’t allow themselves enough time to review 50,000 applications by March 1.
Thanks, I will get my app in by those Oct. 15 just to get all this stress off. I haven’t submitted my apps because essay C is half done. Also, does auto admission status update immediately once you submit your app? I don’t see any fields on ApplyTexas that holds your class rank. I’d like to see that congratulatory message of being an auto admit and pending for major not long after I submit. Quite gratifying to crawl into top %7 during the last semester of junior. I started freshmen with 30/130 and our senior class size dropped under 100!
@xrocker Unfortunately the auto admit status does not show up immediately. It may take days to weeks to show on your status page. Our daughter applied at the beginning of August, and she is still waiting for her status to change. Right now it just says her application is complete. She is an in-state auto admit in the top 5.5% of her class of 669.
