UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

Hav applied RD to all

I am definitely NOT an auto-enroll haha. My chances of getting in are slim to nil. I am a 23 year old, 5 years out of high school, 1835 old SAT, 3.6 GPA. I’m a lower-end admission.

@SenkakuLichen I sure hope so haha. UT seems to look at ranking more than scores, but scores are important to them. As long as you have around their average (27-30) you should be guaranteed a spot with great ECs. I have a pretty low ACT score as well, 30 overall but 23 in the math and majoring in Bio, but great ECs just like you. So crossing our fingers!

Earlier in this thread there were people convinced that there wasn’t going to be a January release, but hopefully there will be. Us non-autos would really like to hear soon :’(

Many autos are still waiting, too. Good luck to everyone!

@BreadedPrincess I thought some non auto admits had already?

@CathJR Yes! A few did (mostly the ones closest to auto). But the majority is still waiting, and they will most likely send a bunch of non-autos out on Friday since theyve had a good amount of time to look them over.

There could very well be no January release still. It just depends on what admissions wants to do :stuck_out_tongue: They can only guarantee all decisions will be out by March.

@SenkakuLichen

Wait a minuteee I recognize that name, did you happen to go to UTNIF Session 2 lol?

@baedrillaurd
Hehehehehe :wink:

@BreadedPrincess thank you for the response!

I asked about scores because I am well below the score you provided… I’m talking a composite of 24. My math was great; I received a 26 on it, but the others are closer to 22-24… I am a bad tester.

BUT… I am applying to COLA (for government/IR), which I have been told is one of the lesser-competitive schools.I’m also ranked in the top 14% of my school, so it could go either way for me since my EC’s are in fact outstanding.

Fingers crossed! Good luck!

@CathJR I meant only a batch. The largest portion of the decisions will be released end of February/1st of March.

Can someone please please give me an idea of what my chances might be of getting in?? I honestly go on this site for hours trying to find info im obsessed with getting in… !! Please reply to this and I’ll share my stats !! Thank you

Your ACT is low but your rank is pretty solid. You’re Out of State or in Texas?

@GojiraHD out of state (Illinois)

I’m going to be honest. Chance me posts are rather moot. All these profiles you guys are posting are up to holistic review, which includes essays, demographics, rigor of courses, what courses were available to you, and of course, your academic profile. Those that are “chancing” you haven’t seen your essay, and essays are an extremely important part of the application. Even if you think your essay is stellar, that is completely subject to opinion, and the admission officer is the ultimate judge.

Sure, you can look up past year’s common data sets and see how previous applicant’s stats, but this is this year. You don’t know the stats of who are applying.

Admission officers don’t see your chance me post in the same way they see your application. Judging stats by itself is not how admissions works. The whole point of a holistic process is to take your entire application in to context, which no chance mes provide.
