UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

Those who’ve been accepted and not yet accepted, please visit https://learningsciences.utexas.edu/studenttesting/welcome-student-testing-services
and click on “View Scores and Claim Credit” to see if you’re admitted.
If you’re admitted, you’ll be eligible to transfer credits and the pop-up message will say likewise.

This is to see if admitted students are already registered into their database (I believe they are), and if they are, this might show us if we’re actually admitted to our dream school before our applications’ statuses update on the MyStatus Portal. Hope it helps.

@sean191297 I am an auto admit and it did not let me do this. I think you are over thinking all of this. Just wait and hope for the best.

@sean191297 That…is definitely not true. In-state auto and I can’t transfer yet. Just chill out until Friday friend, no amount of reading tea leaves like this will help; all it does is spread misinformation and unnecessarily panic people.

Oh well, just wanted to help. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got into UTA Neuro way back in December, but I heard nothing about Honors yet… anyone know when those will come out?

What time would decisions be released Friday?

@Chromiumite - Congratulations on the acceptance. I believe most are still waiting on honors (CNS-right?)

Also- and you will find this out quickly- : UTA is the University of Texas in Arlington. It is either just UT or UT Austin.

Anyone know when the rest of the decisions will come out

I’m oos and my major is neuroscience

Anticipation says 17th of Feb. @TheUsual

Here’s a conspiracy theory:

I’m seeing what others are seeing with the essays. Both of my son’s essays have a “1” next to them…and they were really solid. Same thing with his scholarship essay. I guess the question would be, does anyone NOT have a 1? He’s always had the “play button” on his application tab, so no change there. A My documents tab was added late last week on the far right of the screen.

But, his first choice major has changed from “Computer Engineering” to “Electrical Engineering”. I know for a fact that it’s been CE for months and didn’t notice this yesterday. So there are a few deductions: 1. The website has a glitch 2. He didn’t get into CE and they changed his major for programming purposes when he gets his rejection email 3. He got admitted, provided that he wants to switch to EE

Most likely, it’s just a glitch in the system. But, I have another 2 days to kill before we know…

I have ‘1’ on each of my essays and I’d say my essays were solid as well; deserve 5 if not 6 on a 6 scale.

@spankytoes, was your son’s second choice major Electrical Engineering?

@spankytoes @sean191297 When you say number, are you saying in the notes section that it says Topic (letter) Number: 1 ?

If so, it just means in what order you turned in the essay in. For example, if a person decided to submit Topic A, that will be labeled as Topic A Number: 1. If that person decides to submit Topic A again, which will mean that the person decides to resubmit an essay, the newest submit would be Topic A Number: 2.

@honeynut12 That makes sense. Thank you.

What time Friday would they be posted??

@nduclaunc I would say morning, since that appears to be when decisions usually come out. I could be wrong thou.

@sean191297 No, that’s the odd thing. His 1st choice was Computer Engineering and his 2nd choice was Unspecified Business. His 2nd choice is still the same. He would be totally fine with EE if it meant that he got in. But, it’s most likely a glitch in the system. EE is also competitive and I doubt that they are making him “settle”. Just found it interesting.

Two of my essays have a 1 and the same two that were uploaded a second time on accident have a 2 next to them. I think it is just the attempt number for the essays that we are seeing!

@spankytoes: fwiw, the Cockrell website lists “Electrical and Computer Engineering” as the major. Not 2 separate majors.

@honeynut12 Possibly. This is what I see:

ESSAY(S) 11-13-2016 Topic: A Number: 1
ESSAY(S) 11-13-2016 Topic: C Number: 1
SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY 11-13-2016 Scholarship Essay Code: C Nbr: 1
SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY 11-13-2016 Scholarship Essay Code: A Nbr: 1

All of them have the #1 on them. Both essays, which are the same for both sections above, were submitted on the same date. He only submitted 1 version of each, so that makes sense

Looking over it, I noticed this too:

MISCELLANEOUS ADMISSIONS DOCUMENTS 11-29-2016 Football achievement in 2015.
MISCELLANEOUS ADMISSIONS DOCUMENTS 11-29-2016 Achievement letter in 2010.

He played school-organized football from 7th - 12th grade, but I don’t know why he would have an achievement letter from 2015. He was All-County all 4 years of HS, 2 years in Garland, TX and 2 years in Long Beach NY. The Achievement letter in 2010 is a complete mystery to me. He got some sort of Presidential Award in 8th grade for Science, but he was in 8th grade in 2013, if I’ve done my math correctly. He was in 5th grade in 2010.

He submitted 2 letters of recommendation, but the website says that they were received on 12/2/16, which would be after the deadline, and doesn’t have any info on them like the other items on the list. But the admissions tab says that his letters were received on 11/29/16 from his HS guidance counselor.

He also has the following listed:

FRESHMAN APPLICATION FORM 11-13-2016 FALL SEMESTER 2017 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

That’s puzzling since he definitely applied for CE and his 1st choice major, up until today, reflected that. I have a screenshot showing as much after his application went into review. We had a little trouble having the website denote that his SAT scores had been received back in December.

This all leads me to believe that the website has a glitch in it right now. Either that or someone manually entered in his information incorrectly.
