UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

@amottmers If they are accepting 19000 people, 14250 would be auto admit and therefore would have received at least their general admission acceptance already. That leaves 4750 people to be admitted to the school- many non auto admits have been admitted already. I read earlier this month that around 8500 people would hear this friday. I assume that is a mix of auto people getting their major notification as well as many non auto people getting their acceptance along with their major. 15% of these Non auto admits ( 2850 if they are saying 19000 total admits) must be texas state residents. leaving around 1900 spots for those outside of texas. Good luck to everyone. I am on an in between year- my son was accepted last year ( non auto got his acceptance and major on Feb 19) my daughter will apply next year - non auto also . I heard last year they accepted either 18000 or 18500.

Such sweet young men & women on this thread! Please know it’s encouraging to us parents too. To know there are so many bright, excited, and engaged students gives us hope for the future! There was no where near this level of competition when we were going through the process ourselves.UT is a very special place but we know the admission process does not feel like it right now. Hard to not cheer you all on! And @nduclaunc, you may be surprised. Your parent or parents may very well be on this thread and you would have no idea. I know my kids don’t! I’m sure they are very proud of you either way. Lucky parents!

I found this from Fall 2016:

Applications: More than 47,000 students applied for freshman admission. That number is a 9% increase from the fall 2015 record-setting 43,000+ applications.
•Admission offers: We offered full-time admission to 19,074 students; 15,335 of them were from Texas high schools and 11,714 qualified for automatic admission.
•New freshmen: 8,611 new full-time freshmen enrolled in fall 2016 (up from 7,612 in 2015). (About 100 freshmen are also enrolled part-time at UT Austin as participants in Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment; they take most of their classes at Austin Community College.)

tb2000 where did you read that it would be tomorrow that offers are made?

I just talked to my counselor at my high school. He received an email that decisions will go out in the next few days! So I’m assuming tomorrow for sure. I would be really excited for Pace. I’m at 29 ACT 14%. COLA

@bengeg I have similar stats. I feel like we have a chance at full admission with a 29 ACT

LOL @Oldhorn They totally might be here and guiding us

@warrior101x depends what school you’re applying to. Eng/Business/CNS (mainly Comp Sci) are all competitive, and a 29 ACT would be below average for those applicants.

I’m not expecting to be accepted at all to be completely honest with you. I want you all to know to not let a denial get your hopes down. You’re never too old for education, and certainly never to old to do something with your life.

@Aristos I applied liberal arts, also with a 1360 SAT.

1430 (760 math 670 reading)
top 6.3%
31 act 34 math 32 english
average to above average essays

in state

chance me for mccombs please

I think I have a good chance but im so nervous

@warrior101x I think you have a good to very good chance at COLA.

@Aristos thank you! My rank is what is gonna hurt. I’m 35% but I’m a top 10 texas school, and I didn’t submit my rank. So when UT assigned one for me it was probably much better. Saying UT is my dream school would be an understatement. I grew up and have lived in Austin my whole life and fell in love with this city and this school. I even took a job directly related with UT that has been super difficult, but I got to wear the longhorn logo on my shirt every day and I hoped it would help my chances. It’s been my goal my entire life to be a longhorn, so fingers crossed…

Can someone chance me please UT IS MY NUMBER ONE SCHOOL IM SO SCARED?

@Momofboys71 Earlier this week two or three people posted that they had been told by admissions in person that this friday is the day

@colev22 I Think you have a great chance at MCcombs. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

Well, after waiting for months the nerves are starting to get to me. Given a quick pass over my stats, what do my chances look like for computer science?

New SAT: 1520 (770 Reading/Writing, 750 Math)
Old SAT: 2070
ACT: 32
GPA: School doesn’t do anything but 100-point scale with +10 points for weighted classes, so I reported my GPA on that scale. Online calculator says my GPA would be 4.46 weighted/4.0 unweighted.

Thank you. Good luck tomorrow, everyone!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I’m applying in state. Class rank 18/650, already auto-admitted to the university.

Good luck tomorrow everyone, the wait is almost over!
