UT Austin Financial Aid Awards for 2016/2017

I am just wondering when do financial award letters start to come out for UT. Please share if you have gotten yours and you are happy with it, or not. :-h

@DoctorWho2016 I’m pretty sure I found on the website somewhere that award letters would come out between mid-March and mid-April.

FAFSA priority deadline is March 15.
Spring break March 14-19.

They will most likely start coming out Monday, March 21.

I am not eligible for FAFSA (non resident of Texas). I did not apply for scholarship while filling out my main application. I want to apply for the Engineering Scholarship Program. I have been admitted into UT Austin for Electrical engineering. Initially, when I tried to fill out the scholarship application, it said that I wasn’t enrolled. Now though I have paid the enrolment deposit, it still says the same. What do I do? The deadline is March 1 and I haven’t even applied yet!!Please help!!

@ramya11, if you filled out the scholarship section of the ApplyTexas application, engineering departments will automatically consider you for engineering scholarships given out by the department. You can check your MyStatus under financial aid to see if it says “We have received your Freshman Scholarship Application.” For the Fall 2016, it is likely too late to apply now for scholarship consideration for the fall. My understanding from the college is that engineering is completing its scholarship offers and will likely send to recipients next week or so.

@ramya11

FAFSA is a federal program, and the only people who are not eligible for FAFSA are people without US citizenship or permanent resident status (green card).

Go to FAFSA site and file application ASAP https://fafsa.ed.gov/ The deadline is March 15, you still have time.

Also, here is one site where you can find all kind of information (my absolute favorite)
http://www.collegeforalltexans.com/index.cfm?objectID=8F88F7F2-A11A-B69F-5E25D9D6F972DAE4&audience=student,
especially read part “Types of financial aid”

Engineering scholarships.
When you are in high school you apply for scholarships in your ApplyTexas application, and you are considered automatically.
When you are already enrolled you apply as continuing student on UT website http://www.engr.utexas.edu/undergraduate/scholarships.

Even if you are already admitted you are not enrolled yet, you are not considered a current student until you actually start classes.

If you are US citizen AND if you are interested in the military you can contact ROTS and join this program freshman year. They also have scholarships.

Does UT give a fair amount of scholarships to OOS students? Also, does Cockrell give out scholarships for Eng students? And last question, does Texas Exes give out a lot of scholarships as well? Thanks in advance.
