UT BHP or NYU stern

Hey guys,
I was just accepted into UT Business honors program and I am still waiting to hear back from NYU stern. What would some of you recommend between the UT BHP program and NYU stern? I think with the honors program at UT, my education will be of equal quality, but everyone is telling me that I will have much more real world exposure at NYU. Is NYU worth all the extra money+costs of living in manhattan? I live in Texas, so Austin would be really convienent. Does it really make that much of a difference in the long run?

Thanks

I think it comes down to where you want to work. If you are planning on staying in Texas, BHP is perfect, both financially and with regards to networking. UT has a good rep, but it seems to be a bit more regional, whereas Stern is very national. If you want to work in the NE, Stern would be a better path.

Since you live in Texas go to UT. It's cheaper and there is plenty of recruiting from top firms here. Yes, many of them are from Houston/Dallas, but you usually have the opportunity to switch to a NY office if you want (The firms I mean are GS/MS/BB firms).

NYC is by no means worth the extra cost.

if you think UT is highly regional (especially BHP), go check out the Texas Exes chapters all over the country.

10% of BBA graduates from UT end up in New York and i'd think that BHP grads are even more spread throughout the country.

I can't imagine NYU being worth the extra 100k+ you and your parents will have to pay.

NYU all the way. Believe me it is definitely worth the money and what many people don't realize is that they are looking at sticker prices and I have friends whose parents make over 100k a year and they still get some financial aid. Just wait a day or two and the UT BHP kids will probably put up a link about who recruits from the program and whatnot. Stern is comparable only to ivies and other very select school's when it comes to IB recruitment. UT BHP has great IB recruitment also, but half the time these kids get stuck in Texas and frankly the NYU name looks better for grad school and to make connections. I'm not going to argue this case anymore, but offer you my opinion and say that Stern is simply the better option.

wow, ya, now I've that been admitted into both Stern Schloars and UT BHP.. I'm extremely confused. I really dont want to go NYU at this point, but I'm thinking that in 4 years, I will feel that it might have been a better choice..

I live in Dallas, so UT is close enough. BHP is a great program. If I work hard enough, cant I get anywhere I want to?

Any other opinions? Please?

You do realize that until fairly recently, NYU was a very mediocre school with little prestige anywhere, much less New York? Even though it as climbed the rankings in recent history, with much help from the strength of its professional schools (business and law), its overall faculty strength is still significantly behind UT. Just look at academic rankings (i.e., not USNWR undergrad), and compare the rankings of academic departments across the board. While NYU is certainly stellar in some fields (like law), overall it does not have the same academic breadth as UT.

anyone else?

Well UT will be a lot of less competitive compared the stern. (from word of mouth, if you got into both and work decently hard, its pretty likely you can pull a 4.0 at UT). In the long run, I dont think it would make that much of a difference, other than you might have more oppurtunities in the NE out of stern and out of UT more in Texas and the general south. But UT still sends kids to the east coast, and theres no reason why you cant. Just get a good mba after that. Personally, I'm going to UT business (reg), but still waiting on Stern (doesnt really matter anymore).
