UT Austin: Spring Transfer 2019 Thread

Its also possible @longhorn322 was admitted at first but then denied because they let too many freshman in or whatever.

That guy also said that the “audit thing worked for him” which is not necessarily the same as saying his transcripts were uploaded. Again, anyone with an EID can use the AID. So…idk. It does make sense that transcripts would not be uploaded for people who were denied admission

@CFLumos I know it to be a fact, 100%. Nonetheless, there are normal workflow scenarios in which a denied applicant might have all transfer credit posted, for example denied to Business but admitted to another major, or transfer credit still present on the applicant’s record from an older (admitted but no-show) application. In rare instances an application reviewer might even want to see all of an applicant’s UT equivalent coursework before rendering judgement. But normal routine is to post just the admission prerequisite coursework.

Where are you getting this info? @PastePotPete

This is all theory mate. @PastePotPete How can you know 100%? Inside info? Anything other than someone within administration telling you that is total rubbish. If it makes you feel better to think you’ve been accepted then think however you want I suppose. Why would UT admissions outright lie to @CattyNebula? This person actually asked the question directly to admissions. Not that it matters, but I haven’t run that audit thing since last week when this whole matter picked up steam. There’s now been two different people who’ve both stated the audit issue is moot, one applicant, and admissions themselves. Why would the truth be in opposition to what admissions said? Makes not an ounce of sense. Clearly the work involved in posting peoples details (transcripts & coursework toward said degree) isn’t a concern for UT. I don’t get why UT would mess about by playing silly little mind-games. What do they get by lying to applicants who ring them up with direct questions? That’s just sadistic and void of logic.

Any other government/COLA transfer seekers, if so what’re y’alls stats? I have a 3.74 gpa, 34 volunteering hours, student government senator (and some other minor ec’s) and 3 letters of recommendation.

@Sith77 she was likely talking to a secretary who has little to do with admissions decisions.

But your right, if @PastePotPete hasn’t actually spoken to someone who is involved with the process it could be 100% BS

@utguyguyguy Agreed mate.

I personally spoke with four other students who all like me didn’t have jack uploaded in the audit thing–last week. All four students also with +3.6 gpa’s with at least +40 hours. Hard to believe they all got the chop. I believe facts. I think “everyone’s” info gets the audit. This is what admissions has already directly stated. UT can’t do all of that data entry in one day. It takes time. Some peeps will see all their info much quicker than others. We have no idea whether they are doing the audit by alphabetically surname, or major. Who knows tbh?.

@Sith77 I feel like you should take a breath. You seem very stressed out. Everyone here should understand that all of this back and forth in here makes no difference in the outcome of your admission. But it does make a difference in your overall sanity. So please stop speculating. Just wait.

We all just need to take a Xanax and calm down? I know we all want definitive answers, but unfortunately we just have to wait it out until next week.

@joycejames1 The only frustration I have is at the length of this process. It is also frustrating to have some people say they know “100%” what’s going on. How can that be so? All this speculation I agree is a time waste, however the stress is real. Do you want to go to either aTm or Baylor? I sure as £hit don’t. If chopped, that’s the reality for some of us. That possible realization is stressful.

I do doubt they have made everyone’s decision though. The results are clearly not really coming out everyday (or if what the admission said is true then it’s coming out very little by little). They should still be looking over applicant info.

@Anonymooous99 totally agree.

@Sith77 it probably has to do with when your application was submitted perhaps. I submitted my application on the 15th of august (I didn’t submit all my documents till october 6th however

Right, so what I’m saying @Sith77 is that engaging in this forum is only increasing everyone’s stress. It’s good to know when to take a step back. Speculation is unhealthy. The admissions process is what it is, and freaking yourself out about it won’t change that. Also, A&M and Baylor are both very good schools. Don’t let UT have so much power over your mental space. If none of us gets in, it’s not a judgment on our worth. It’s a process, and no process is perfect as evidenced by y’alls frustration.

@joycejames1 okay pal.

what are we supposed to do now …lol

Be patient & keep a positive mind I guess :). Thanksgiving is coming up soooo we should enjoy that first.

I don’t claim to know anything about how UT does things but I can tell you my experience. I graduated valedictorian in my high school class in Texas and had automatic admission but I chose to go to Boston my first year. When I was there I realized I wanted to come back home and change my major and had to go through the whole transfer process. I applied and I had a 3.94 GPA and the only reason is because one professor decided to give me an A- for class participation so I didn’t have the 4.0 I should have. I applied to COLA for government because my plan is to go to law school. I had a audit with all of my courses and I was denied on the very last day they sent out admission decisions which I believe was June 14 after they had my application since February. I submitted an appeal with my spring grades that was a 4.0 and they accepted my appeal on Aug. 3rd. which gave me 3 weeks to find an apartment and get to Austin by the start of orientation. So all the speculation about the audit being a sure thing isn’t true and all the speculation about your GPA being high enough isn’t that true either. They denied so many people for this fall semester because they simply didn’t have space. So my appeal was accepted probably on part that some of the accepted kids didn’t end up going. But I love the school and am feeling like I’m finally in the right spot! Good luck to you all!!!

@colanxgirl Thank you for your story. I’m very happy you got in and are thriving!
