Just a quick question for those who know… I have been told that UT is pretty stingy for scholarships, and I’m heavily relying on need-based scholarships such as FAFSA. So I guess my question is: Does UT, like other schools, give reasonable need-based grants for those who need it, or are they more restricting than other schools like A&M?
Are you a Texas resident?
Are you low income? What is your income.
FAFSA is not a need based scholarship. FAFSA is the federal application for fed aid, which isn’t much. At most, a federal Pell Grant is about $5800 per year for those with the lowest incomes.
If you are in state and have competitive stats, there IS a new need based scholarship initiative available:

I don’t know much else and I certainly don’t know how it will all play out but it looks promising.
But historically, from reading here on CC and talking to friends, UT is not usually very good with need based aid. Did you apply early and complete the FAFSA?
What’s your FAFSA EFC?
