Firstly, does anyone know how specific the numbers get for automatic admission at the University of Texas at Austin? My rank is 8.6%, and the cut-off this year is 8%. Secondly, if my rank goes up at the end of the semester, which would be after I submitted my application, can I send a midyear report showing the elevated rank and still qualify for automatic admission? Thirdly, suppose I were rejected before I did this: would sending an elevated rank above the cut-off in a midyear report post-application qualify for automatic admission in that case? Sorry, I’m really stressed out about this and automatic admission would really soothe my nerves, so I’m trying to gather as many “what if” scenarios as possible.
First of all, stop stressing out.
Now, you don’t qualify for automatic admission at the moment. However, people in your current circumstances have had success appealing for admission after falling within the automatic admission threshold.
I don’t know much about sending a mid-year report while decisions haven’t been sent out. You might want to ask your admissions counselor about that.
- I believe you must be better than 8.1%, so you are out of the range.
- You can submit documents through December 1 as part of your application
- UT won’t reject instate applicants. They will admit you, offer you PACE, CAP and/or wait list.
Don’t stress out. Do your best in the application. Apply to other schools. Research CAP and PACE so you know if they are programs you are willing to participate in. FYI there is a UT forum where you will get more specific feedback. Good luck!
Thank you for your answers!
