I'm currently a CAP student at UT Arlington and I'm planning out my spring 2015 courses. It says we need ENGL 1301/1302 before the end of the year, but what happens if I'm taking ENGL 1302 right now? I got AP credit for ENGL 1301. Do I still have to take an English coure next semester? It gave us an option for ENGL 2309 or something like that, which was "World Literature," but I'm aiming to major in Engineering. Do any past CAP students know if I'm required to take 2 English courses during the year regardless of credit? Thanks.

First, while UT Arlington may require you to take both ENGL 1301 & 1302, UT Austin doesn’t. The only course requirement UT Austin has for CAP is completion of a math course. Second, if you have credit-by-exam for ENGL 1301 it will be treated as transfer credit so long as UT Arlington posts it to your official transcript (see http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/ate/problems/cbe.html). But credit-by-exam does not count toward the thirty total hours required by CAP – all of that credit must be classroom hours.
