Previously, the notification to the student for the AES scholarship came with the acceptance to the university or within a couple of weeks. That might be changing this year to being notified in December. Somebody called admissions and that is what they were told.
I wonder if they anticipate getting more selective this year. My son starts as a freshman in a couple of weeks and I believe his AES came with his acceptance in the fall. He did apply to some other schools that just last year changed their decision dates to later than previous years. Very frustrating to have it happen on your kid’s grad year. I hope potential UTD student’s end up getting scholarship info earlier than December!
I do think they will become more selective. By waiting until December, they have a pool of applications to compare to each other. Another thing that was said, was they are still considering the date of the application in the process. So, if you have 2 comparable applications but one was sent in September and the other in November, the September application will have the edge.
We were told December 15th for AES awards. I am very disappointed.
December is still early - that is before TAMU and UT Austin release the bulk their holistic admission decisions. (and CAP and PSA students)
DS applied to UTD and received an acceptance letter within about 2 weeks (auto-admit). The letter stated AES would be awarded on Dec, 15.
That confirms the info. I’m glad they are stating that on the admittance letter because it is a big change from prior years.
